Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Lots of dress compliments but since I'm a slacker and haven't updated properly I can't really remember. 

Although this dress is not the most flattering in the gut area I love it.  It had straps but I cut them off and made it strapless.  It also has crinoline underneath the skirt so I felt fancy and funny all day.  I tried to play it down with knee socks and sneakers but I'm not sure that worked.   I spent the day working and then came home for some kitten snuggles.  Michael came home from skating and we headed to El Camino to meet up with Kristin and her lady friend Maura and our friend Rica.  We enjoyed happy hour margarita pitchers and yummy food.  Tipsy and full we decided it was necessary to shove gelato on top of the alcohol and food. We forced ourselves to walk around a little bit and then tasted lots of flavors of amazing gelato.  I got cream cheese and chocolate peanut butter.  It was super yummy.  

We came home and played with Soda Pop for a while.  She's such a cutie.  Rica came over to meet her and Steve loves her so he hung out too.  We all watched dumb tv shows.  It was a lovely, low key, kitten filled Friday night.  Awesome.

It was kind of cold on Sunday so I wore my black hoodie a lot of the day. I woke up to the sound of pouring rain, okay not really I just like to start typing the lyrics to I Remember You by Skid Row.  I heard a few drops of rain on the tent and my mind must be conditioned from the many rainy motorcycle camping days and nights to react to the sound of raindrops.  I freaked out and rain out of the tent to check on what exactly I'm not sure.  We had some supplies out but who cares, it was the last day, we were going home.  I realized that there was no need for a freak out because it was barely even raining and we had a lovely tree cover. Of course I couldn't get back to sleep.  It was something like a little after seven. Dumb. I wasn't the only one up so I started making coffee and breakfast.  I made hash browns with scrambled eggs, bagels and cream cheese, and veggie bacon and sausage. It took me forever but it was delicious once it was done.  I put on some makeup while I waited for the potatoes to cook and the french press to brew or whatever a french press does.  

I got dressed and snuck off into the woods to take pictures.  It felt absolutely ridiculous.  The drunk peeps woke up slowly and eventually we were all up and tearing down camp.  It went by way, way too fast.  

We took the last few miles of canoeing very, very slowly and barged up for a large part of it.  At one point we had megabarge- all of the canoes at once.  I think someone got a picture of it but I haven't seen one yet. Here's an attempt at a sideview.

We barged up and slowly floated for hours, taking a break for some cliff diving.  Four people jumped- Caleb, Michael, Angie and Curtiss.  I was only fast enough to photograph Michael and Angie.

We took a minute to photograph the ladies of the trip- that includes Jeff and Orsborn in the back. 

We paddled a lot since it got windy.  That kind of sucked.  Eventually we all made it to the beach and unpacked our stuff and then loaded it on the trailers.  My camera battery died just in time for a group picture but luckily Cameron had his. 

We stopped at Minisink and ate weird fried foods and salads and sandwiches and then headed back to Hoss's parking lot. Michael had to drive Orsborn's car since Orsy lost his glasses.  I then had to drive Orsborn's car back to West Chester and then eventually Michael, Steve and I drove back to Philly.  We arrived home around 11:30 exhausted and dirty.  Good times.

Day Three Hundred Twenty-nine Saturday  7/24/10

Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Jody liked my eye makeup, some Fishtown kid rode by on his bike and said something like DAaaaaaamMMMn Guuuurl. 

It was even hotter on Saturday, something like one hundred degrees, and the air was a soupy mess.  I wore this dress in an attempt to stay cool, it only sort of worked.  Michael and I went to Kraftwork for brunch.  We joked on the way that we should call our friend's Jody and Spano but they'd probably already be there.  They were. It seems Spano's car was broken into, yet again, and the culprits had attempted to steal it, again. So dumb.  We joined them and had food and beers.  I had a flight that including Hitachino Espresso Stout, Beer Geek Breakfast Stout, Ichtegem's Grand Cru, and Young's Double Chocolate Stout.  Nom, nom, nom.  I also ordered the omelet, which was to have goat cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions and peppers.  I got it sans onions and peppers but they kind of made it sans goat cheese too- maybe a dollop. Waaaaaah.  It was still a fluffy, tasty egg so I survived.  We hung out for a while and I went home and read a bit before heading out to do some cat jobs.  I spent a few hours on the couch, avoiding the heat and watching three episodes of Jersey Shore, much to Michael's dismay.  Later that night we ate leftover pizza and watched 500 Days of Summer, which I thought was a really lovely movie.  The Steves came home from seeing Cap n' Jazz and regaled us with their stories and I survived the heat just fine.

Day Three Hundred Twelve Wednesday 7/7/10

Again I woke up and took a trip to the Dunk for some coffee but this time I got some gross bagels too.  I came back and we had coffee, bagels and mimosas.  We headed to the beach and lounged on hotel provided chairs and towels.  Word!  We brought to-go mimosas- not the best beach drink in retrospect.  Oh well.  We both read our faces off again and enjoyed the sun.  

Around 4 we headed back to the hotel and went to the pool.  We scored awesome lounge chairs and read more and enjoyed drinks.  Michael had a beer and I had a frozen wild berry margarita.  We endured a group of annoying young professional douchebags and swam a bit.  More reading ensued and we were loving life.   After a few more hours of lounging we headed back to our room for showers and primping for dinner.  I am sort of in love with this dress.  I love the orange and the pocket factor.  It's super comfortable too.  I paired it with my not-yet-broken-in Payless wedges that cause a bit of blistering still.  I'll break those fuckers yet.  I went a little overboard on the makeup.  I think it's just natural to that in when in Jersey.   We went to P.F. Changs for dinner and had drinks at the bar while we waited, me a Malbec and he a beer.  Dinner was wicked yummy.  We had the tofu lettuce wraps for and appetizer and split Ma Po tofu and Curried Tofu and Vegetables for our entrees.  Divine.  I don't usually love chain restaurants but man alive I love me some P.F. Changs.  Nom, nom, nom. 

After dinner we walked as much as my stupid shoes would let us, not far, and I scored a cat head/rose Atlantic City t-shirt nightshirt.  I intend to resew the sides to make it a fitted dress.  It was between the cat/rose or two kittens in a tea cup that said "Wake up and smell the coffee." I liked the coffee quote but when I asked Michael which cat he'd more like to punch in the face he opted for the cat/rose cat.  I agreed and plunked down my $7.99.  

We returned to our hotel, sad that it was our last night.  We drank the rest of our wine and watched Funny People.  What a great movie!  We missed the very beginning but I got it.  It definitely stuck with me.  I love Adam Sandler in roles like that.  I love vacations more though.

I really thought that since these wedge heels seen above were sneaker inspired that I could get away with wearing them walking all day.  Nope. And probably not because of the heel part but more because I've worn them twice before in over a year and they're not broken in yet so they were a little blister inducing.  Oh well, I was smart and carried a spare pair of flats with me.  This dress was from my Molly haul and man I regretted cheating on her dresses with a Rainbow dress the previous day as I woke up with a rash all over my body- no doubt from the shitty detergent Rainbow uses on their garments.  I usually wash my stuff before wearing it but I was so excited about the newspaper print that my usual logic flew out the window and turned into a bird.  I have super sensitive skin and can't use any fun products or smelly stuff if it will be in contact with my skin.  I'm delicate damn you!  Once the dress (yes, I slept in that stupid newspaper dress) was off of my body the rash stopped spreading and started to clear up.  GROSS! 

I spent my day working and then came home and made amazing seitan and smoked tofu fajitas with chipotle ranch broccoli slaw and avocado crema- it's my current favorite dinner.    I predict I'll make it a lot in the next few months.

Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  A few dress compliments and a girl in my class, Crista, told me she has a similar dress in yellow.  

So this dress is actually a skirt and I am sort of in love with its amazing pattern:

 I saw a dress somewhere online (that'll learn me to save images!) maybe Urban or Anthropologie or somewhere- it was a strapless dress that looked like a pencil skirt.  I've been waiting to find a cute skirt that was big enough for me to hike over my boobs and call a dress.  I'm so happy that the one I found also happens to be corduroy and covered in Canada Geese.  Word. 

Thursday was quite good.  I worked all day and then had a lovely time at class.  We have moved on to the poetry section of the class.  After class Michael and I went to Memphis Taproom to indulge in beers for beer week.  We weren't super psyched on any of their beers and both only had one.  We ordered food and poor Michael got the portobello grinder that comes with provolone.  This time it came with sharp provolone.  Combined with the hot peppers (pickled) and onions the flavor was out of control and so not him.  I gave him some of my arugula salad and amazing asparagus mac n' cheese.  So, so, so good!

Day Two Hundred Eighty-four Wednesday 6/9/10

So yeah, this is actually a skirt but if you hike it up, voila!, it becomes a dress.  It's not the best dress since the elastic isn't super strong so good thing it was cold and rainy and I wore a coat overtop of this outfit because all damn day this "dress" fell down and exposed my bra over and over again.  The coat covered it and no one was privy to the ladies so it was fine, just pretty uncomfortable.  Yay.  I got this dress via an online Swap Meet on Suicide Girls.  I'm no longer a member but it was a great way to buy and sell goods, mostly clothing and makeup.  It's sort of like ebay or craigslist but all within an online community and without auctions. It's one of the things I miss about being a member of SG. I suppose I could track down some other online communities that may be free.  Mayhaps I'll look into that.  

It was a gross, rainy day and despite my fabulous umbrella I got soaked a few times.  I attempted to stay dry but it's near impossible to carry an umbrella and walk two dogs at once.  After work I took a quick trip to the thrift store, Circle Thrift, then to the grocery store and then home.  We went to our friend's house to pick up a couch and love seat they were getting rid of but after measuring our front door and their front door we realized it would not fit.  Blargh.  We could have attempted an alley/back door entrance but I feared it wouldn't fit through the kitchen/living room entryways and that would've been a whole lot of ass pains for nothing.  So we're stuck with our gross, chewed up, sheet covered couch until we redo the living room and buy new furniture.  I want a Macy's couch! Like one of these: 

A girl can dream I guess.  After giving up on our temporary couch dreams we came home and I made us vegan beef stew- tons of vegetables (carrots, red potatoes, celery, green beans, and onions), seitan, mushroom broth and a few herbs simmered together until the veggies were tender.  I served it with buttered noodles and crusty buttered bread.  The noodles were the only non-vegan item in the mix.  Nom, nom, nom.   We stuffed our faces and snuggled on our dilapidated couch.  the end.
