day forty-eight

Day Forty-eight 10/15/2009

Dress: Blue Terry Cloth Vintage Dress

Purchased From: Oh shucks, I can't remember, some thrift store I'm sure.

Year or Era Purchased: Within the last few years or so

Price: $? I would guess under $5

Accessories: Phillies winter hat, skinny jeans, black boots

Hair and Makeup: down and wavy with a hat, usual makeup and a touch of smokey blue eyeshadow

Comments/Compliments/Complaints: I got a compliment on my hat from a door guy at a building I go to  to walk dogs.

Day: It is so gross today, gross and rainy and horrible and so cold it makes me want to curl up under my covers and never come out but instead I worked outside in the rain for a large part of it. Boo. I am not ready for this weather in the slightest.  Again Michael and I could not sleep in and woke up before our alarm clock, at 6:45AM.  Who am I?  I tried to go back to sleep and actually got out of bed around 7:30 or so to take Michael to the El so he wouldn't have to walk in the rain.  I knew it would be total crap outside all day so I came home and searched soup recipes and found one on the Post Punk Kitchen site that I tweaked a bit, Zesty Mexican Soup by adding veggie chicken, using half water and half vegetable broth and subbing the cilantro for parsley because I hate fresh cilantro and because my garden is still producing parsley like woah.  I spent my morning getting clean and drinking coffee and figuring out what Phillies inspired outfit to wear.  It was so cold that I totally wore jeans today and paired them with this weird terry cloth blue dress that I just cant remember anything about.  I am a sucker for terry cloth dresses even though they never look good on my body shape,  they're like that type of satin that shows every body dimple, every flaw but I just can't stop buying them. I don't know what is wrong with me, maybe it goes back to how when I was little I would try to figure out how to make a towel wrapped around me look like a dress and pretend I was a fashion designer, so sad. Anyway so  it's not the most flattering dress in the world for ladies with my body type and the collar buttons are annoying and move all about even with a safety pin attached but since I spent most of my day covered with a hoodie and a long coat it really didn't matter and today's outfit ended up being way more about the hat, also from a thrift store for $1.

During my workday I stopped at Whole Foods to stock up on my veggie items and yes I am not proud to admit it but I was so craving the Tofurky hickory smoked slices that I opened them in the car and made them my mid-day snack.  I definitely missed them most in the last two weeks.  I came home and immediately started working on the soup and it occurred to me after all of the ingredients were in the pot that I had not checked the serving suggestion for the soup and as usual had made entirely too much food.  I now have two leftover containers of soup even after feeding three people dinner, so please note that the serving suggestion on PPK might be a little off unless you are serving super hungry people.

We ate dinner and watched the first game in the Phillies vs. Dodgers series and I am ashamed to admit we both totally fell asleep for pretty much the fifth to the eighth inning and also slept through It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, d'oh.  We woke up in time to see the big win, which I'd like to think was due to my hat wearing today but I'm not completely retarded so I won't think that.  I am so exhausted now from pretty much nothing so I'm going to crawl under my covers and convince myself that I am doing the right thing and sticking it to the PGW man by not turning on the heat.

We haven't turned on our heat yet either. We get to save money and Eno gets to wear little outfits so it's a win win for us.

You are so adorable in the close up pic.
We have not turned the heat on yet but I'm tempted today since all but Gwen are sick in our house.
Brad was in the same thought for food and made yummy home made soup last night too.

Awesome dress. But I don't know about this organized sport craze/phase. What happened? You guys used to be cool...now your supporting one of the diseases of this country.
