day two hundred seventeen.

Day Two Hundred Seventeen 4/2/10
Dress: Navy Blue Ruffled Shirt Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Winter 2010
Price: $12.99
Accessories: Grey Argyle Fishnets, black sneaker boots, white flower hair clip,
Hair and Makeup:
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: A few compliments but I can't remember them all. The lady that said I could lose some weight a few weeks back said I was looking skinnier.  Ha.

Day:

Beautiful day! This dress is another in my new navy blue arsenal.  I love it.  I originally wore some flesh colored fishnets but the entire crotch totally ripped out them so after my gym visits I went sans tights until I got home an changed.  That kind of sucked and made me feel self conscious all day.  Oh well.  I started my day by going to Benjamin Moore with our friend and contractor, Matt, to pick out and buy paint.  We chose two greens- rosemary and I think stem green for two walls in our bedroom and cool aqua for our bathroom.  I took a feathery headband into the store to match to a paint chip.  I'm super excited for that one!

I then worked, went to the gym, cancelled my membership since a much closer gym offers the same $19.99/month rate, shopped a bit at one of my favorite stores, Conway, and then headed home to hang out with friends.  We headed out to an art show made up of Twin Peaks inspired art.  On the way there I encountered a cab driver who caused me to experience the worst road rage I have ever experienced in my entire life.   I was attempting to turn onto Girard Ave in a northbound position, making a right turn and yielding to oncoming traffic as I had a stop sign and they didn't.  A cab was next to me, double parked, facing southbound and picking up a fare while I was heading north. He picked up his fare and proceeded to back into oncoming traffic, attempting to kill a bunch of people and snake my spot in line, almost hitting me in the process because his turning radius was not what he thought it was.  I was having none of this because cab drivers do not scare me.  I drive around this city as much as they do and I like to consider myself fairly skilled at it.  I inched up so he couldn't go, estrogen pumping through my blood in full force, all while traffic was just as angry with him for trying to back up into their lives.  I made sure to block him enough so I got to go first but he just chose to dart out into the farthermost lane.  Full of rage I did a fake and controlled "I'm going to crash into you" quick swerve into his lane.  I am pretty sure I was screaming obscenities at the top of my lungs with the window down.  He then proceeded to tell me from his open window that I "should learn how to drive".  Yeah, sure the swerve was unnecessary but it was full of purpose and clearly shows how controlled and good I am at driving, duh.  Dick.  And also hello, he was the one who backed into oncoming traffic! What the fuck.  I felt bad for Michael and the two Steves in the car with me but they backed me up.  Sheesh.

We arrived at the art show and it was pretty awesome, though much smaller than I had anticipated.  I bought a piece for $20, a canvas print of The Arm.  I'm pretty excited about it.  There were some really awesome pieces, including a wooden pinhole birdhouse with Laura Palmer and Agent Cooper inside, see below for highlights:

They also had a black lodge set up in the back.  Orsborn took the picture and cut out the most important part, the zig zag floor. Oh well.

After hanging out at the show for quite some time we met up with Chad and Lindsay at her store, The Chic Petique  where I met a fatty fat orange cat.  I tried to convince Michael he should be ours but I don't think I even came close.  We then headed to Silk City for a late night dinner.  We sat in their beer garden and froze, despite the heat lamps.  It was a lovely night, minus the dumb dumb cab driver.  I wish I could write him a letter and explain to him how he was wrong.  Maybe he'll read my blog.

day two hundred and five.

Day Two Hundred Five 3/21/10
Dress: Navy Blue Ruffle Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Winter 2010
Price: $14.99
Accessories: crazy pattern boots
Hair and Makeup: down, up, braided with some down, etc. it changed a lot, green eyeshadow and mascara
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Lots of dress compliments, I let Michael pick from a pile of five or so dresses.  He narrowed it down to this or a plaid dress.
Day:

I meant to write this yesterday but sleepytime seemed more important.  Yesterday was fun and a little whirlwindy and fast.  I woke up late with a bit of a hangover and a super stiff neck.  It was a bad weekend for my liver and my diet. Boo.

I putzed around, let Michael pick out my dress, made coffee and toast and headed to Target with my lady friend Sue who has been expecting a little baby since the beginning of this blog.  I found out on day two of this blog and wore a pink dress that day in hopes of a baby girl for her, which she is indeed having, yay! Her shower is this weekend so we went shopping for a cute dress for her to wear and found one on clearance! We also both purchased copies of the newly released New Moon because despite the fact that we are both over thirty we are super dorky.   I also scored a baby blue cardigan and rain coat on clearance.  Word.  After shopping I went home to get ready to go celebrate my friend Katy's birthday at El Camino. Michael and I biked there, my first bicycle ride of the season. Oh Sheila (that's the name of my bike) you are so fabulous and pretty.  We met a bunch of people and sat outside at large picnic tables drinking margaritas and eating.  I ordered and ate 1/4 lb. of seitan.  I kind of loved that I had that as an option.  We had shitty service but managed to have a nice time anyway.  I will yelp you el camino, don't think I won't.   After dinner and celebrating Sue and I watched New Moon and mostly chatted through it.  Oops.  Michael came home from hanging out with Sue's husband Jake and avoiding teenage vampire movies (I'll make him watch it, don't worry) and we watched The Pacific and headed to bed.  Today my neck is still twisted and hurty and awful.  Ugh. I need to schedule a Ricassage (a massage from my friend Rica).

So this dress came from the Ross dress event, an event I found a little underwhelming.  It has crazy sort of pointy ruffly sleeves that make it a little futuristic and weird.  I wore my hair back/up most of the day so you could see them but the photos with my hair like that were god awful so I took it down.  Sort of wish I'd done that way earlier in the day. Oh well.

day sixty-five.

Day Sixty-five 11/1/2009
Dress: Black and White Pattern Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased:
Spring 2009
Price: $12.99
Accessories: jeans and boots
Hair and Makeup: none and none, too hungover so I wore a horse mask for the photo.
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: none
Day:

We slept in the Element atop yoga mats and layers of comforters.  I can't say with certainty that it was comfortable as my judgement may have been a little blurred but I am pretty sure it was cozy enough.  I woke with the immense pressure of a throbbing bladder and dull ache within my skull. The Halloween party was tons of fun and the costume was a hit.  There were some seriously awesome costumes for my viewing pleasure as well.  I certainly consumed both too many drinks and too many varieties of drinks. Today's hangover was epic.

I threw on the dress that I brought with me and since it was much colder than I anticipated I paired it with jeans and a long sleeve black shirt.  To be completely honest today's dress was not thought out and I put zero effort into it.  I just grabbed something off the rack last night and shoved it in a bag.  I put pjs on when I got home.  After dressing I found a chair and tried to shake my hangover with some ibuprofen and water.  After shoving vegetarian bubble balls (veggie meatballs wrapped in crescent roll dough) and weenie winks into mouth we packed our stuff and headed to Capriotti's for vegetarian turkey hoagies, the cure for a bad hangover.   We drove home and my ever growing nausea almost got the best of me.  I made it home, thought I was in the clear and let Michael use the bathroom only to find myself hunched over our kitchen trash puking up the tasty vegetarian treats of the morning.  Ugh.  Dumb.  I then climbed into bed with a tray, my hoagie, a giant ball jar full of ice water and a bag of chips.  I'm not proud but I ate ten inches of hoagie, half a bag of chips and drank thirty-two ounces of water while watching an episode of House.  I then promptly passed out for three hours, waking to the new daylight savings darkness.   I spent the rest of the night looking at pictures and watching the sad, sad Phillies game.  Now I'll be retiring to bed but I promise to post the costume process tomorrow complete with pictures and explanations of the construction.  It's November, wow! day sixty-one.

Day Sixty-one 10/27/2009
Dress: Phillies T-shirt converted into Dress
Purchased From: Ross and then I altered it
Year or Era Purchased:
Spring 2008
Price: $7.99
Accessories: black tights, boots and cardigan
Hair and Makeup: down and wavy minimal makeup as I was running late
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: a cashier at Conway, Michael
Day:

We woke up early today and that sucked because I was dreaming lots and one of them was about birds flying all around me and giving me kisses.  Some were solid white and others were blue and white.  I took Michael to the El, came home and did dishes and made french press coffee and fed the squirrels.  Steven Andrew Orsborn came to the window today, a big step for him.  It was raining and his fur was all wet and crinkled, cute.  I played on Yelp for a bit before sewing up what was today's dress.  It was an oversized t-shirt that easily became a strapless dress, not a well constructed strapless dress mind you but hey, I'm new at this.  I cut up the middle of each sleeve and then sewed them together with a crappy stitch and embroidery thread.   I then pulled the two sleeves towards the back and tied them together.

I spent the rest of the day working and then finally made my triumphant return to the gym after a whole month of not going.  Planet Fitness added 10 or more elliptical machines, 10 or 15 bikes and they have one of their televisions programmed for E! now.  Word.  I should go away more often. I also made a pit stop into Conway to retrieve an article of clothing for my friend Rica's Halloween costume which also allowed me to purchase a new dress.  I might even wear it tomorrow since I have to get up early and take my cat Easter for a  Upenn vet visit even though I hate them kind of a lot.  She has kidney disease, high blood pressure and hyper thyroid.  Youch.  She's also like four pounds but will eat almost anything.  She's eaten red peppers, mushrooms, spaghetti, any and all dairy products, seitan, morning star farm products, french fries, etc. etc.  She does not however like chicken.  Funny little lady.

After the gym I picked up Michael from the El and came home and made tacos with veggie beef and soyrizo.  Yum.  I had to stop myself from eating too much. We watched Game One while I worked on several aspects of my costume that included lots more paper mache with paper towel and duct tape build ups, some pattern chalking and fabric cutting and pinning.  I don't know if this will ever end. I'm so close I can taste it, oh wait no that's the awful bits of fibers that flew all over when I cut one of my fabrics.  I had to cover my mouth and nose while I cut but my eyes are still full of little green fibers.  Blech. It was really nice to watch such an amazing baseball game while I worked.  Now I must retire to bed for early vet visit rising.  Go Phils.

day fifty-nine.

man, i need to vacuum under there!

Day Fifty-nine 10/26/2009
Dress: Green Baby Doll Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2009
Price: $14.99
Accessories: green headband, crazy boots, cream knee socks,
Hair and Makeup: two buns, usual makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Four people (two strangers and two people I know) complimented my boots. I also discovered a hole in them :(
Day:

Today was really busy and jam packed so i just grabbed the first dress I saw and since my eye has been gazing longingly at green more than ever lately it went right to this dress.  You might recognize it from day nineteen and that's because it is the same exact dress, just in green. I got this one first actually and tried to go get it in black but they were all out so I settled for brown.

The day started with me rushing around to get to my second brazilian wax appointment.  I made it to the el right when the train pulled up, walked through the turnstile and onto the train.  Perfect.  I made it Body Restorations at the exact minute of my appointment.  Go me! I was so proud of myself, sad I know. The Brazilian wasn't even half as bad as the first time, awesome.  After the appointment I ran to MAC for foundation and window shopped at H&M, almost bought a $6 hat but walked out.  I met up with MIchael and Wes for lunch at Mi Lah, an awesome vegetarian and mostly if not all vegan place in center city.  I had a portobello sandwich, Michael had pad thai and Wes had this amazingly tasty beer battered seitan sandwich.  I have only ever eaten there for dinner and their lunch is far superior.

After lunch I boarded the El and went to my parked car (walking to the el would've made me late, it wasn't a laziness factor) only to find I got my first parking ticket in something like three or four years.  Ugh. I've been so diligent but in my haste to be on time I completely forgot I parked on a 2 hour parking street. Blargh.  My perfect record is tarnished and I must start over.  Boohiss.

I worked and then even though I was supposed to return to the gym today I did not.  I have to get my butt back there and get back into it.  The lactic acid buildup in my thighs from playing paintball is torture right now and my bruises have all developed into gross and giant marks.  Hopefully this awful pain subsides and I can get back there asap.  I am starting to feel gross and mushy again. Instead of going to the gym I decided to try to recreate this mushroom soup that the Memphis Taproom served last week.  I found a pretty close sounding recipe on Epicurious.com and went to Superfresh for the fixins.  I always forget how much I hate Superfresh and their stupid expensiveness.  Lesson relearned.  I came home and got cracking on the soup and it came out tasting like pure awesomeness! Here's the link, I will be making this again and again and again but maybe doubling the mushrooms to make it thicker and heartier.   Mmmm soup!  I also made my version of La Zucca Magica's Italian inspired Spanakopita, using a pie crusts spread with a puree of spinach, mozzarella and sharp cheddar, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper and then covered with another pie crust.  So good!

After I stuffed my face furiously with the soup I got down to business and watched four episodes of Criminal Minds while working on my costume.  Paper mache, sewing, dying and painting oh my! I am super exhausted and hurty and must attempt to sleep off this pain now.

day forty-seven

Day Forty-seven 10/14/2009
Dress: Red Plaid Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2009
Price: $14.99
Accessories: Grey corduroy pants, black cardigan, grey belt, black on black chuck taylors
Hair and Makeup: down, no makeup for part of the day, usual makeup for later
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Michael said something like look at you all dressed up, Sue said she liked the dress.
Day:
Today's dress feels like Fall to me and since it was in the fifty degree range today I was feeling like Fall too.  I paired today's dress with pants because it was chilly and then added a belt in the same color as the pants to tie it all together.  Today's doggie friends are wire haired fox terriers, Emily and Mia.

Today was my first day back and work and now I'm exhausted because both Michael and I woke up at 7AM without an alarm clock and I am not an early riser.  Maybe this jet lag thing will turn me into one.  I hung out with Sue in the morning, grocery shopped, worked and then we went to dinner with Mike and Jody at Hot Potato Cafe, which was a lovely time.  After dinner Michael and I watched some missed television, two Hell's Kitchen episodes and two office episodes, and now I am absolutely exhausted and must go to bed.

Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Last night when I was trying to figure out which dress to wear today Michael said he liked this one, it was good for both a boat and Italy.  He was right.

Today's dress was purchased solely for the reason that it has pockets.  I liked it otherwise too but it puckers a bit in the belly area and can add some unneeded excess lumpage at times.  When I realized in the dressing room that it had pockets I forgot all about the lumpy possibilities and put it into the to purchase category.  I am such a sucker for a dress with pockets.  I also like the bust line of this dress as full on straight across strapless can sometimes be icky on my chest.  I knew we were going on a boat today and since yesterdays dress was supposed to be my boat dress but turned out not to be since the boat wasn't running I needed to figure out another solution fast.  I also needed the dress to double as my lunch in Italy dress and after trying on a few last night Michael and I settled on this one.  I so wish my favorite black flats did not break right before we left because I would've brought them and worn them with this ensemble but they did and so I wore my new black boots.  I wore this dress one other time too, to the wedding of my brother so I'll always remember it as it that first and foremost.  It is sad how my memory works like that.  I can remember what I wore the first day of school for 6th, 8th and 9th grade for some reason as well as many other occasions.  It's a sickness I suppose.  My hair is sort of dirty so I put it in a high bun and added lots of bangs.  I also put on a good bit of black eye makeup and a smattering of red lipstick so I'd feel sort of fancy.

Today was our last morning in the apartment so we actually had to set our alarm (gasp!) for 8AM.  Ouch.  We've been rolling out of bed around 11ish so it hurt a little, especially since I stayed up to basically finish Living Dead in Dallas, the second Sookie Stackhouse book.  Oh how I wish I had borrowed more from Sue! Now I'm onto a serious non-trashy, non-vampire book, Into the Wild.  I still have only seen bits and pieces of the movie and it was on sale at Target so... Anyway so Michael and I woke up early and he walked down into the city part of Nice to pick up our rental car while I got ready and made us breakfast (cheesy home fried potatoes, yogurt with raspberry jam, wit bier mimosas and chocolate croissants).  We said goodbye to our awesome view, packed up the car and then took our last walk down the hill to Le Port where we returned our apartment keys and boarded a super touristy boat for a one hour boat ride around the Cote D'Azur.  It was really nice, did not involve duck quacking (I'm talking about you Ride the Ducks! I hate you) and we both like boats so we thoroughly enjoyed it.  After our one hour tour we walked back up our hill one last time and retrieved our car, took a quick trip to the grocery store to stock up on wine an water and I snagged a french copy of an Alice in Wonderland kids book.

We were then on our way to Italy for lunch.  That sounds so awesome, but really Italy is only like 45 minutes away, or a little over an hour with coastal roads.  We made a list of all the dorky things we wanted to do on our vacation and have pasta in Italy was on the list.  We went to Ventimiglia, Italy and had Spaghetti Pomodora and Ricotta/Spinach Canelloni with Alfredo.  The pasta wasn't fresh and the restaurant was super cheesy but it was fun and we ate outside and it was Italy.  We walked around a little afterwards to see if I could find cheeseball Italy souvenirs for Sue, Spano and Jared but to no avail.  Sorry my Italian friends.  We then got gelato (I had another one yesterday, hazelnut while Michael had lemon) and I am addicted to hazelnut gelato.  It tastes like the nougat part of a snickers bar! So I got another one today and Michael got a mint flavor.  We sat in Italy and ate gelato and then drove back to France and Michael had a blast driving on the coastal swerve heavy roads.  My stomach flip flopped since I was trying to film some of it.  We then stumbled upon our hotel on a different road than we expected and checked in.  It's awesome and amazing and fancy called Les Terrasses d'Eze.  It's friggin' sweet and Michael was thrilled to see it has a bidet.  We'll be here until Sunday and then it's crappy airport hotel and back to reality.  I did see three stray cats today so that made me a little homesick for my furry friends.  It's not over yet but it's been swell.

day twenty-six.

Day Twenty-six 9/23/2009
Dress: Black and Printed Kimono Style Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2009
Price: $14.99
Accessories: none, grey cotton flats
Hair and Makeup: pulled back into a bun. I really need to wash it.
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: a client told me I look nice. She was topless though so her opinion leaves me a tiny bit skeptical.
Day:  First of all, holy crud, I'm 1/4 of the way done this little ordeal of mine.  Crazy how time flies.  And now for the day, it sucked...I really need to snap out of my crazy aggro stress ball attitude but today was just another one of those crap days.  It was off; everything was off.   It felt rushed and then lagging and I just felt gross and awful all day.  I am quite sure the humidity that I woke up to did not help.  It also made me extra itchy.  Allergies and sensitive skin suck, like a lot.  Today's dress did not help.  I knew when I bought it that I didn't really like it but the style of it reminded me of another dress I have that I absolutely love so I thought I just had to get it.  It's really poorly made the top part is a bit too big for me so it kept falling down and exposing my bra to the public all day. D'oh.  The rest of it fits sort of fine but it's really not flattering.  Oh well.  Lesson learned.  Speaking of boobs as mentioned above one of my clients was topless in front of me for a long period of time today.  Boundaries people, boundaries.  Did I mention she is 69? Yup.  Did I mention I've seen her boobs a total of twice now? Yep.  Dear god I need a new job. Also I am stressing about getting all of the hair ripped off of my lady parts tomorrow morning.  Ouch.  On that note I'm going to take a shower and do a load of laundry and say take that you stupid day, you're not the boss of me.  Yeah.

day nineteen.

Day Nineteen 9/16/2009
Dress: Brown Babydoll dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2009
Price: $12.99
Accessories: Just some rain boots and bright orange tights
Hair and Makeup: Low pig tails but still no real makeup.  The eyes are almost back to normal!
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: A door man called me Pippy Longstocking
Day: Today was another one of those days. Ugh and ick.  Maybe it was the weather.  I mean it wasn't all bad or anything, just meh. Maybe it was the lack of sunshine.  I usually like today's dress but for some reason it was just annoying me today.  I had to go to Rica's today and force feed her kitty Seamus since he's having liver problems (poor little dude!) so I just sort of threw on the first dress and pair of tights I saw.  I didn't bother much with hair or makeup and I think that was my problem.  Oh well.  It's over now.  The hardest thing is taking self portraits on off days, not so much fun.  The dress is identical to a green dress I bought at Ross at the beginning of the summer.  They had it in green and black when I bought it but I only bought the green.  About a month later I decided to go get the black one and of course they were all gone but I did find a brown one and though I don't usually wear a lot of brown I'm not opposed to it so I got it and here it is.  No accessories today.  I was going to wear this sweet fox necklace I got at AC Moore the other day but I couldn't find a chain to fit it.  Maybe tomorrow.

I worked, skipped the gym today and went on a much needed and super boring Target trip.  We needed everything so even though there are many amazing dresses as the guest designer this month is Anna Sui and all the new fall socks and tights are out I resisted temptation and only bought things like toilet bowl cleaner and q-tips.  I did score some rain/garden boots for $4.98!!!! And they're baby blue.  Nice.

For dinner I recycled last nights broccoli and cheese sauce and baked potato and made cream of broccoli and potato soup, bread and salads.  It was like Olive Garden in our house tonight, except better because Olive Garden is kind of gross.  I have $50 in gift cards to Olive Garden that I won by putting $1 into a raffle.  That's kid of awesome and someday I'll take Michael on a sweet and gross date there.  Yup.  Tonight we watched Sunshine Cleaning and I really liked it.  I also hung up a new shower curtain liner that is supposed to be mold and mildew resistant.  I'll keep you posted on how well it works.  I know, the suspense is killing you.   I also did a few of my French Rosetta Stone lessons tonight.  Man alive is that frustrating sometimes.   Me repeating the french word bleu over and over and over it refusing to accept my pronunciation equals a bad time.  I'm going to retire to bed early tonight in hopes that tomorrow is not just a new but a better day.  Au revoir!

day seventeen.

Day Seventeen 9/14/2009
Dress: V-neck Tattoo Print Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2009
Price: $11.99
Accessories: crazy pattern boots
Hair and Makeup: down and wavy, usual makeup and allergy eyes again :(
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: none today
Day: Today's dress is one of my favorite dresses and since I knew we'd be waking up in a hotel today all googily eyed and lovey I thought it was an appropriate choice since it has a giant heart/love banner on it.  I bought this dress maybe two and a half months ago and I think I've worn it eight or nine times already.  It's super comfy, I think it's flattering and I love the print.  I wore the same boots as yesterday because I was in a hotel and not at my shoe rack.

Before I go into today I'd like to give a more detailed description of yesterday since I cheated a little bit and since I loved the day so much I'd like to write it down in hopes that I'll remember it better.  For our anniversary I gave Michael this card:
It's from Etsy from the seller, localwisdomcards

I really love it and will frame it with our wedding photo collage if we ever get the prints done.  Inside I made up a coupon stating we were headed to the Omni hotel.  We took the el and checked into the hotel at 4th and Chestnut.  Upon check-in we were asked what brought us to Philadelphia, which caused us to chuckle and I explained that we were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary and had stayed at an Omni in Montreal for our honeymoon.  The clerk said she'd make sure we got a really nice room and we did indeed.  It was gorgeous and huge.  It was an end of the hallway room so there was a little hallway in the actual room and around the corner was the large bathroom and huge open hotel room with a flat screen TV, love seat, king size bed and tons of windows with a beautiful view of Chestnut Street and beyond.  We also had carpeting that was almost a perfect match to my crazy boots that I bought on clearance at Bare Feet Shoes on a shoe shopping trip with Rica.  About five minutes after our arrival we heard a knock on the door only to find a complimentary bottle of champagne was delivered as an amenity.  I thought that stuff only happened in the movies.  We were totally like little kids and we giggled with glee but we were starving so we headed out to Beau Monde for crepes like we had in Montreal.  Yum.  A few doors down from Beau Monde is the flower shop Poppy, which Michael pulled me into and bought me a beautiful long stemmed orange rose.  We then stopped off to grab some peach juice so we could make bellinis with our comped champagne and made a quick tourist style stop at a hidden garden nook I found a few weeks ago right off of Pine Street.  We were in crepe comas so we stopped pretending to be tourists and headed back to our room for a nap.

Later in the evening we indulged in beer and french fries and then walked around Olde City again like we were tourists.  I actually saw a few things I've never noticed before.  It was a beautiful night but we had pressing business to attend to so we got back to the room to indulge in the season finale of True Blood and anniversary bellinis.  I also made sure to take tons of pictures of myself in the bathroom mirror because the lighting was awesome and caused some wicked creepy eye action.  Check it:

This morning we lounged about and enjoyed our last few hours of fake vacation and I discovered my new obsession, the Wendy Williams show.  Oh my god I loved it.  We finally departed home and back to reality and a work day.  I worked, went to the gym and made tacos for dinner and we watched The Mist, which we both agreed was just okay.  About an hour ago Michael and I ate our saved piece of wedding cake, well okay we ate a small bite each.  It actually wasn't too terrible and maybe that's because it was vegan?  The cake was very stale but the icing tasted fine and we didn't die or get horrible diarrhea yet so I think we're good to go.  I hope it brings luck and not tummy aches.  Now I'm dealing with allergy eyes again and trying to figure out if they are in reaction to the urban decay primer potion or mother nature.  I took a claritin so cross your fingers.    I'm off to bed, it's not king but at least it's a pillow top and my cutey pie is  in it waiting for me.  Swoon.

day eleven.

Day Eleven 9/8/2009
Dress: Black and White Sheath Dress
Purchased From: Ross
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2009
Price: $15.99
Accessories: Pearls for an hour
Hair and Makeup: Classic pulled back bun and thick black eyeliner for the first part of the day, two buns in the hair for the second part
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: One beep from the old fashioned horn of a motorcycle rider
Day: When the day starts with a funeral there's really just no chance for it. We woke early and I knew exactly what dress I'd wear. I wanted to look classy and put together and the only way I can really do that one hundred percent is to wear something I've never worn before. I like that feeling of removing the tags and knowing there is no cat hair coating or weird stain lurking for me to find hours later. I'm not exactly the neatest or cleanest person in the world. I always sort of thought that with age I would automatically turn into an adult and be super clean and neat. Wrong. I'm certainly trying harder these days but I'm just not there yet.

Today's dress was purchased with a bunch of other dresses one day at Ross. I think I might have tried on 20+ dresses that day and took home four or five. They're just so cheap and they will not be there if you go back! Trust me on this one, I've tried. Anyway I did my hair in a low bun, donned some pearls and a pair of black heels and Michael and I walked over to pay our final respects to our neighbor Winge. He was in his casket wearing his usual hat but clothing I've never seen him in, a button-up shirt and non-Dickies pants. His children and grandchildren placed tickets from Philadelphia Park in his hands and spray painted his lottery number onto his square of flowers. It was pretty amazing, I think he would've approved.

We came home and I watched as five squirrels fought over the territory that is our yard. Since I was already in my dress and it was a very overcast and cool day I stayed in it for the rest of the day but took off the pearls and heels and changed into black flats. I spent most of the day in a melancholy state and dragged myself to the gym where I rocked out the elliptical for 70 minutes to make up for the massive amounts of food I stuffed into my face this weekend. Once I arrived home my mood picked up because Bill is back in town this week from Nebraska and we (Bill, Rica, Michael and I) went to Jose's for dinner. Jose's is really amazing authentic Mexican food. Mmmmm.

After dinner we went to Spaghetti Warehouse where we took photobooth pictures and Rica took the What Should You Be? test with the result Philosopher. Rica and I didn't know what to do in the booth so we used Sue's idea to copy one of the photo strips on the booth. Good idea Sue! Mike and Bill went with the theme "exploring retards". They said it, not me.

We then went to Rita's and got dessert. I dropped Rica off and we talked for way too long and now I'm really tired because I never get up so early and work out so hard in the same day. So I bid you goodnight, the pillow top is going to feel extra amazing tonight!
