day three hundred two.

Day Three Hundred Two Sunday  6/27/10
Dress:  Black Strapless Dress (that may or may not be a skirt?)
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift Clothing Swap
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $Free

Accessories:  White and black polka dot cardigan, black flats, hippopotamus tattoo
Hair and Makeup: Wet from swimming so pulled up into a bun, some black eyeliner and a little blush
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: A few compliments on the dress, some weren't sure if it was a bathing suit or dress, everyone was impressed that it was free

This is my pool attire and it was free. It might actually be a skirt but I rocked it as a dress/cover up.  I like it a lot and I like it even ore since it was free.  I woke up pretty late and headed back down to the party areas of the night before for cleanup.  Again, Michael was already in the pool.  Fish boy.  I cleaned a bit and then Rica and I headed to the grocery store for bloody maria mixers and bagels.  We came back and I made two pitchers of bloody marias and a pitcher of cucumber water.  I'm all about pitchers these days.  About half an hour later we were all in the pool, loving life.  I kind of want a pool.  Eventually we succumbed to the fact that we are city dwellers and finished cleaning up and left, but not before heading into West Chester for a veggie turkey Capriotti's hoagie.  Michael and I came home and I did several hours of homework before settling into the couch for some hoagie and tv time.  Good Sunday.

day two hundred eighty-five.

Day Two Hundred Eighty-five Thursday 6/10/10
Dress: GREEN AND NAVY CORDUROY CANADA GOOSE DRESS!
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $4.00

Accessories: Green flats, blue cardigan
Hair and Makeup: Low pigtails, usual makeup with green matte eyeshadows from MAC- velvet moss and newly minted.
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  A few dress compliments and a girl in my class, Crista, told me she has a similar dress in yellow.

So this dress is actually a skirt and I am sort of in love with its amazing pattern:

I saw a dress somewhere online (that'll learn me to save images!) maybe Urban or Anthropologie or somewhere- it was a strapless dress that looked like a pencil skirt.  I've been waiting to find a cute skirt that was big enough for me to hike over my boobs and call a dress.  I'm so happy that the one I found also happens to be corduroy and covered in Canada Geese.  Word.

Thursday was quite good.  I worked all day and then had a lovely time at class.  We have moved on to the poetry section of the class.  After class Michael and I went to Memphis Taproom to indulge in beers for beer week.  We weren't super psyched on any of their beers and both only had one.  We ordered food and poor Michael got the portobello grinder that comes with provolone.  This time it came with sharp provolone.  Combined with the hot peppers (pickled) and onions the flavor was out of control and so not him.  I gave him some of my arugula salad and amazing asparagus mac n' cheese.  So, so, so good!

day two hundred fifty-nine.

Day Two Hundred Fifty-nine Friday 5/14/10

Accessories: Black cotton belt, grey short-sleeve cardigan, black flats for and dark grey tights for part of the day then no tights, black flats and a white cardigan later in the day
Hair and Makeup: Double buns with bangs pinned back and a flower clip, usual makeup with baby blue "zonk bleu" eyeshadow from MACComments/Compliments/Complaints: Michael made a few comments, one of which questioning if my dress was a bridesmaid dress.

So yeah, this dress is really a skirt I've owned for quite some time. I bought it with a baby blue sweater material tube top and I can't say I never wore it with fairy wings at some point in my life.  I've since donated the tube top and I don't see myself wearing this again as a skirt or a dress. It will be donated too.  It sort of bugged me all day, I sort of loved it and sort of hated it.   It was also way hotter than I thought it was to be today so my original outfit was modified mid-day when I nixed the tights.  The original sweater (shown) was too thick and despite the short sleeves it was smothering me.

I spent my day working and had another effing key snafu.  Blargh.  I thought a cat client key I needed was on my ring but instead it was home on my key hook.  I had to come home and get it, something I hate to do, especially during rush hour on a Friday.  Stupid brain, stupid keys, stupid week.   I finally got done work, quite late for a Friday, and Michael and I headed out for a date night since we didn't get to hang out much during the week and I'm starting class three nights a week on Monday.

We headed to Farmicia for dinner.  It was lovely.  We split a bottle of wine and an appetizer of Fiddlehead Ferns in an herbed butter/white truffle oil sauce. Divine.  So glad these little things were introduced to my palette.  Michael had some veggie tamales and I opted for a mushroom risotto croquette entree.  Both were tasty.  After dinner we walked about a mile to Beau Monde for dessert and cappuccinos.   We then waked back the way we came to the movie theater to see Exit Through the Gift Shop, a fabulous movie.  It was funny, interesting, thought provoking, etc.  We both really enjoyed it.  It was a lovely date night. I came home and caught up on these here blogs and it's now time for beddybye.

Day:

It's snowing again.  Crazy.  Our backyard is going to be engulfed.  I hope my white trash backyard neighbor's already mostly destroyed canopy thing finally caves in totally so I don't have to look at it anymore.  I suppose the squirrels do enjoy using it though.  I've already had three cancellations for tomorrow so that rules.  I am hoping for more.  I hate driving and trying to park when there's several feet of snow on the ground.  Ugh.  It will at least be a short day.  I plan to make a chocolate stout cake tomorrow with my extra time.  It will be my first from scratch cake.  I might also make this cauliflower soup vegetarianized.   Winter/snowstorm cooking is the best.  I do try to embrace this season even though I mostly hate it.

This dress is fun in that I sort of felt like I was living on the edge by wearing a shirt and skirt combo.  I know that's nerdy.  I got it half off at Circle Thrift because it was the color tag of the week.  It's probably a little to young for me but I haven't fully accepted my age yet so that's fine.  I went with all Autumnal colors today.  It was my silent protest against winter.

The day was pretty uneventful.  I worked a long day in the snow, trudging around and driving cautiously.  After work I went to Target for valentine's and slippers for Michael and ingredients for my cake.  The slippers were too damn small for Michael.  Good thing Target has an entire wall of flip flops right now but only eight pairs of men's and zero pairs of women's slippers in stock right now, while there's 20+inches of snow melting and 20+ inches of snow coming!  Fucking hell these buyers/stockers/merchandisers are nuts.  It's too soon, too soon.

I made smart dogs and mac n' cheese for dinner and we watched Lost.  Rob McElhenney from Always Sunny was in it.  That made MIchael really excited.  I guess I should go to bed now since I will most likely have to venture outside in this mess tomorrow.  Ugh. Winter, I am over you.

day one hundred twenty-eight.

Day One Hundred Twenty-eight 1/3/2010
Dress: Black with Polka Dots Skirt to Dress Dress
Purchased From:  Clothing Swap
Year or Era Purchased: Fall 2009
Price: Free
Accessories: Black tights, black long sleeve undershirt, black boots
Hair and Makeup:  double buns, no makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: none

Day:
I got this dress at the clothing swap, though it's really not a dress at all. On Rachel's suggestion I yanked it up above my boobs an voila- it's a dress! I don't know if I'll wear it again or add it to my new pile of future clothing swap/donate piles.

So cold.  I don't like it at all.  I don't like that I have to work a full schedule outside this week. Sometimes being a dog walker really sucks.   In protest I only left the house once today for a quick trip to the grocery store and the thrift store to peruse the dress racks- totally picked over.   I found two "dresses" in the robe/lingerie/house dress aisle. Woot.  I bet my Grandmother would like my purchases.

I woke up this morning around 9am still in the living room.  We climbed into bed and went back to sleep until 1pm.  It was brilliant.  I so needed a weekend like this.  I did manage to get a lot of stuff done in between the laziness.  I started to clean the bedroom and it is now in the middle state.  Behold the before and middle:

I also made creamed chipped vegetarian bacon on toast and home fries, which were finally consumed around 5:30pm and so the only meal of the day. Otherwise the day has been pretty boring and uneventful, nothing worth writing about.  I hope it's not so horribly cold tomorrow.  Maybe I'll experiment with long john layers and dresses if it is.  We'll see.
