day ninety.

I wish I could've done my hair like this
today so I would've matched this better.

Day Ninety 11/26/2009
Dress: Blue with White Polka Dot Vintage Dress
Purchased From: Plaid Pony Vintage
Year or Era Purchased:  Summer (June) 2009

Price: $25
Accessories: Black tights and Mary Jane Pumps
Hair and Makeup: Down and curled but they fell pretty quickly, usual makeup

Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Nicole told me I look like Alice in Wonderland, maybe one of the best compliments ever.

Day:

Today's dress is another fabulous Plaid Pony Vintage dress. I bought it last Summer at Art Star during the 2nd Street/Popped Festival.  I liked how the skirt bellowed out and flowed.  Today is the first day I wore it, I like to dress up for holidays and this felt dressy without being over the top.  I paired it with some super comfortable Payless pumps for a full on 50s housewife feel.

It is Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving.  We drove to Cape May and back and ate massive amounts of food.  That's pretty much it.  I am wicked exhausted right now so I am going to bed.  More on my day tomorrow.  Lovesbyes.

day seventy-seven.

Day Seventy-seven 11/13/2009
Dress: Flintstones Dress
Purchased From: Plaid Pony Vintage
Year or Era Purchased: Fall 2008

Price: $25
Accessories: Kurt Halsey bird necklace, jeans and a white blouse during the day and then black tights, pink legwarmers, black shoes, black tutu, black t-shirt
Hair and Makeup: Afro Puffs, usual makeup with teal eyeshadow and fun black dots by my eyes at night

Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Lots of people said things like oh god, oh my, what is that, that's ridiculous.

Day:

Oh my god.  I bought this dress because it is absolutely ridiculous.  Rica and  Sue and I went to a Plaid Pony back of the store sale at Art Star and this gem of a dress was there.  I sacrificed buying other stuff to buy this because I thought I would give it a good home.   Today is the first time I'm wearing it because it is just not super functional.  I wore it with jeans and a blouse earlier and then tonight I put on tights, a tutu underneath and some bloomers since it is wicked short.  I got a lot of weird looks already and I haven't even gone out for the night yet except for dinner.

I woke up and took Michael to work and then came home and cleaned the kitchen and part of the living room in a furious cleaning fit to make up for all the television I watched last night.  I worked some and went to the gym and then came home and cleaned some more.  Then a gaggle of boys were in my life and we drove to Jose's for dinner but not before a ton of detours and picking up Rica and Kristin.  It was ridiculous and fun and we ate lots of yummy food and now we're going dancing at 700. Yup.

day forty try again

Day Forty 10/7/2009
Dress: Greenish-blue Vintage Dress
Purchased From: Plaid Pony Vintage
Year or Era Purchased: 2008?
Price: $25
Accessories: crazy boots, knee socks with bows, rose ring, lacy
headband, anchor earrings. I might change into Mary Jane heels fir
dinner.
Hair and Makeup: down with a headband, electric eel and brûlée mac
and loreal brown eyeshadows, mauve lipstick.
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Michael commented on my eye makeup
and filmed it.
Today is shopping day and that makes for a sad Michael. We are having
giant beers at an outdoor bar/cafe as I type this since he was going
through shopping hissy fits. We plan to go back to La Zucca Magica
later tonight and we lounged a lot earlier. He's well into the next
book of the Aubrey/Maturin novels and I'm 1/3 of the way through the
second sookie stackhouse book. I made us a yummy breakfast and we
enjoyed our balcony lots. We hope to take a boat ride and climb this
cool mountain tomorrow.
Today's dress is my go to dress and if I don't end up on the cutting
room floor you might see how I went to it in an upcoming episode of
Kitchen Nightmares. It makes me feel classic and pretty. It was
originally a crisscross top but I didn't find it very flattering on my
frame so I gathered the bust fabric and pinned it so the style is
more40s/50s. I keep meaning to sew it like that but haven't gotten to
it yet. I've been ignoring Michael and my giant Hoegaarden so I wil
stop iPhone typing now. Until tomorrow.
Oh wait I just bought an awesome vintage dress at the cutesy vintage
boutique! Buy a dress in France, scratch that off the list!

day forty.

EDIT:

This is the later that night updated going to dinner look...

Purchased From: Plaid Pony Vintage
Year or Era Purchased: 2007/2008
Price: $25
Accessories: Blue sandals, rose ring
Hair and Makeup: in a bun, red lipstick
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:
Michael said a French chick looked me up and down in a nice way.
Our flight went pretty well. We were able to sleep for a large part of
it though I awoke with a headache like no other mid flight. Luckily
the attendant had some ibuprofen for me. We were served an odd
vegetarian meal of tortellini with a side of peas and carrots, bread,
cheese, rice pudding, and a brownie. We were also served champagne or
wine. I believe my headache may have been caused by my pre and during
flight libations. I just wanted to sleep. Our layover at the Paris
airport went smoothly and we enjoyed coffees that we ordered in
French. Despite sleeping on the plane the time change is really
getting to me. We rented our car, found our hotel and then drove
around lots before dinner and beers at tavern massena. Now we have a
bottle of wine in our room and it's 7pm. I can't guarantee we'll go
back out. I am exhausted. We did walk around a lot too. So far
beautiful but very touristy. We are looking forward to driving inland
to Lyon tomorrow. Until my next random wi-fi, loves byes.

Day: Once again I slept in ridiculously late, sorry. But before I talk about today I should really tell you about the events that took place after my last post. I left the house and the sky began to fall. This is always bad news when I'm about to walk a dog. I began merging onto I-95S and quickly realized that my speed of 45mph was much faster than the speed of the completely stopped convertible that was in front of me. There is no shoulder on this particular section of 95, a car was coming in the lane to the left of me and this genius didn't have his blinkers on. Luckily the brakes work as they should but had I taken any more time to realize that Mr. FancyPants wasn't just braking I would've absolutely smashed into him. Awesome. I highly doubt anyone reading this would pull such a stunt but just in case this is my public service announcement: Do not under any circumstances stop your car in the middle of a lane on Ifucking95, ever, really. And especially do not stop to put up the top of your stupid convertible because you were too lazy or stupid to research the weather. Unless you are dead or your car just shuts off on its own do not stop! Tell your friends, tell your Mom, tell them I said so, I'm right.

Enough about me, let's talk about my dress. I know I gave you all of the mini details already but I have to expand a bit more on this one. I bought this dress at the Trenton Arts Festival about a week after we moved into our big boy and girl mortgagey house in Fishtown. There I found the vendor Plaid Pony Vintage. I had previously visited the website based on a suggestion from my friend Sue but I had never seen the goods up close and personal. I have since purchased many items and love all of them. You should definitely check out the site for shopping, really quality stuff! I try to make it a point to check out any and all of the events that include Plaid Pony and usually leave with at least one new dress, I suggest you do too if you are in the Philadelphia area! Several times a year you can find Plaid Pony in the back of another one of my favorite stores, Art Star, which happens to be where I purchased my sweet Kurt Halsey bird necklace. They have a ton of amazing stuff and I can almost always find a gift for someone if I'm at a loss. Sorry to be all commercial crazy here but I just really love these places and want to support my local businesses.

Today my hot pink dress took me all over the place. I brunched at Cantina Dos Segundos with friends Katy, Sue and the mister Michael. After Sue, Katy and I went to Olde City Tattoo so Katy could get some sweet birds tattooed on her chest/collarbone area. They came out really lovely. We then shopped on third street a bit and I swooned over a squirrel ring and a beautiful navy blue and kelly green dress that cost more than I ever pay for dresses unless they're wedding or prom related. I'm saving up for dental surgery for my cat Ipacac so those expensive items were out of the question. Later in the day Sue, Michael and I saw Halloween II. We are avid Rob Zombie fans and all count The Devil's Rejects among our favorite films but we all agreed this one was just lacking something. I did think it was visually stunning and the sound was pretty amazing, as was some of the gore, but the story and acting just weren't there. That really makes me sad. Oh well, time for some True Blood and I really think that's going to make up for it just fine.
