day three hundred hundred forty-two.

Me and Charlie, he's misunderstood.

Day Three Hundred Forty-two Friday 8/6/10
Dress:  Navy Blue with White Piping Express Waitress Dress
Purchased From: Super Thrift
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2010
Price: $7.95
Accessories:  Green flats,
Hair and Makeup:  Down, clean and dried naturally, no makeup for the first part of the day, usual makeup heavy on the eyeballs later in the day
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: A girl at the clothing swap made a coffee joke but I think she thought I was trying on an outfit and not wearing what I wore there.  D'oh. Michael loved the dress, a few shoe compliments, Becky said I'm like a paper doll and you can dress me up in anything- I liked that. A woman in an elevator said she liked that my dress matched the dog I was walking, weird...

I really love this dress, it was a great thrift store find.  I was running late on Friday (surprise, surprise) so I just let my hair dry naturally and didn't wear any make up for the first half of the day.  I felt weird and naked but since I'm a little tan and wore giant sunglasses for a large chunk of the day I didn't feel completely gross in the face area.

Friday was chock full of fun stuff.  I spent the day working, made a quick trip to Whole Foods and the liquor store, came home and made some veggie turkey and vegan cream cheese tortilla roll-ups and headed to a clothing swap at my friend Mishel's house.  I brought two giant bags of stuff and left with one.  I scored several dresses, two tube tops, a pair of cowboy boots and some brown knee high boots, as well as many other awesome items of clothing, two purses, and a pink sequined scarf.  Clearly my priorities are in order.  I always feel guilty going to clothing swaps because I am such a clothes horse. While people are socializing I am stocking up on the goods.

After the swap I headed home and Michael and I went to Kraftwork for a late dinner and some beers. I had a flight that included two stouts, a cider and a witbier.  Good stuff. I also got their special grilled veggie pizza with parmesan cream.  It was beyond amazing.  I originally ordered this gnocchi special but it was sold out so I ordered the pizza and got the last one. Score.  The food gods were clearly watching out for me.  I went to sleep pretty quickly after we got home. Beer makes me sleepy.

Day:

I am going to bed. Today's picture will have to do. Tomorrow I will tell you about my boring day and staying in night with a few more sentences. Or not. It was boring but I loved it.  The dress is thrift/vintage/pocketed and waitress style, one of my favorite styles.  Yup.

day ninety-seven.

Day Ninety-seven 12/3/2009
Dress: Red Vintage Waitress or House Dress
Purchased From: Sazz Vintage

Year or Era Purchased: Fall 2009
Price: $10.50
Accessories: Black tights, black and white socks with buttons, black rain boots, black slip underneath
Hair and Makeup: Still curly and huge and now knotty from the rag curls, usual makeup with winged eyeliner

Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  More hair compliments, a client complimented the dress, a scary woman at the Comcast holiday party obsessed over my "Santa's Helper" outfit.

Day:

Today was another nice, good, on timey day.  Yay. I woke up and took Michael to the train and came home and did some dishes, cleaned a small portion of my bedroom, talked to my friend Rica on the phone and putzed around on the compute  I then got ready, putting on my holiday party attire since it was Comcast's holiday party today and I knew I'd be attending later in the day.  This is one of the dresses I just bought at the last Sazz Vintage warehouse sale that I went to.  I love it.  It's easy to wear, super comfortable and fun.  I paired with some new awesome black and white knee socks with little buttons on them that I got at Target and a pair of rain boots that aren't so much good for rainy days anymore because they have holes in the seems.  Luckily it didn't rain today so my feet stayed dry. My hair is still curly and has developed a lovely knot in the back.  Oh well, maybe I'll brush it into a huge fro tomorrow.

I worked a bunch today and then got on the el and headed into center city to meet up with Kristin and Rica for the Comcast holiday party.  Michael finally tore himself away from work and joined us as did some new friends Cheryl and Mike.  We rode the elevator to the food floor and encountered a very enthusiastic woman who was all about what she deemed my "santa's little helper" outfit.  She then proceeded to point out the watering can and say, "Oh look, it really is a Santa's little helper outfit!" Her eyes were a little buggy and quite frankly she scared me a little bit.  I was glad when the elevator doors finally opened on the 43rd floor.  I thought she might take my skin off and wear it if I stayed around her much longer.   The party was fun and we ate lots of free food and I drank some kind of crappy wine.  They had a sushi station served on an ice sculpted table.  I am not even kidding you.  That is why your cable bills are so high.  I am glad we get free cable.  Ridiculous.

I also partook in the mashed potato bar, which was so much better last year because they heated and mixed all of your toppings in a pan.  This year they just threw your topping choices onto a bowl of mashed potatoes.  Oh well, it was still tasty.  After some fun in the adult booze room we made our way downstairs for pictures with Santa and cupcakes.  The whole party was from 5-7, very rushed, very eat-drink-go, but it was still fun.

This is a picture of a picture but you get the idea. Michael was busy
having boy/nerd/beer time and couldn't be bothered to have his
picture taken with Santa.  Shame, shame.

After fun time was over we came home and I took Michael to pay for his motorcycle fixing and get the keys so he can ride it tomorrow and be happy.  We then came home and loafed about and watched It's Always Sunny and The League and now it's off to bed as I have a dermatologist appointment tomorrow, finally! After one month of waiting to get in there I will have them look at my gross eczema finger and eyeballs and fix me up good.  I hope.

Day Twenty-eight 9/25/2009
Dress: Pink Waitress Dress

Year or Era Purchased: 2007?
Price: $5ish
Accessories: Squirrel button on dress lapel, socks with buttons sewn on them
Hair and Makeup:  braids and mess, minimal makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: One shoe compliment and one dress compliment
Day:  My stomach hurts and I have a pretty bad headache right now so today's detail will have to be reserved for tomorrow.  I'm really sorry.  I will break it down like this: early morning dog visitor, 8am grey's anatomy, lots of coffee, hissy fits and popped buttons, work, headache, more hissy fits, bike ride, forgetters show, sushi double date, bike ride, dog walk, belly and headache, oh and a wolf mask.  I swear I'll fill in all of the blanks tomorrow and even though I had a fabulous night I need to crawl into bed now. Ugh. Ouch.

day thirteen

Day Thirteen 9/10/2009
Dress: Vintage Pink 70s Waitress Style Dress

Year or Era Purchased: ???
Price: $?
Accessories: Nest of Eggs Necklace, xmas gift from Sue
Hair and Makeup: Down, dirty, curled and powdered to get rid of the grease, typical lots of makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Mike Spano, though it was suspect since he then said I had to mention him here. Hmmm.
Day: I am really sad to say that I just can't remember purchasing this dress. If I had to guess I'd say it's from Circle Thrift but probably from when they were next to Rocket Cat. Since dresses there run you about $5 I bet that's about what I paid for it. It's in pretty good condition, a few stains but who knows if I made them or bought them, not me. I do know that the dress is polyester and therefore it is a Fall/Winter dress. Today was so chilly so I knew it was the perfect day to break out the polyester. The people of What Not to Wear would be so upset with me. They can suck it. I also wore a slip underneath of this dress since you could sort of see through it and I liked how it poked out at the bottom. My necklace is so pretty if I do say so myself and was a gift from my friend Sue. I believe she got it on Etsy.com. Have you been on Etsy? Probably. If not I apologize so much for just introducing you to your new addiction.

I felt kind of crappy all day today. I don't know if I'm fighting off some sort of sickness or what but I've had an annoying and underlying headache for days now. Ibuprofen is so not working but I keep popping them. I spent the day working and cooking and watching television. I also did some laundry and cleaned the kitchen. Really exciting right. Ha.

The work was fine, the food did not thrill me but the television was pretty okay. I made mashed potatoes with creme fraiche, an ingredient I picked up at Trader Joe's yesterday that reminds me of watching hours of Jamie Oliver cooking shows. I also made seitan with a Caribbean jerk bbq type sauce by combining two recipes in the Horizon's cookbook, which came out just okay but it did contain a Hungarian hot pepper from our garden so that was nice. I also tried to make fried zucchini and polenta but those were pretty much a fail for some reason. Probably for the best. I also enjoyed my company for the television, Michael for the first bit and Jody for the second. The television was Tuesday's episode of Hell's Kitchen, most of last nights premiere of Glee and the last two episodes of Project Runway.

Now if this damn headache would go away I might be able to enjoy the last few minutes of my evening before I have to retire under my comforter so I can wake up early and take Rica's kitty Seamus to the vet so she can say everything is just fine, cross your fingers.
