day two hundred seventy-four.

Day Two Hundred Seventy-four Saturday 5/29/10
Dress: Grey strapless Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $2.95

Accessories: green flats, mens short sleeved vintage button up shirt, mahjong tile bracelet
Hair and Makeup: two day old rag curls, down and pulled back, usual makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Lots of hair compliments, a bracelet compliment, Michael said I was sexy.

What a lovely and productive Saturday! I woke up at a reasonable weekend time of 9:30ish and started my day off right with some homemade mocha frappuccinos with shots of espresso.  I had some goals and accomplished most of them.  I ripped most of the weeds out of my garden and planted tomato, jalapeno and basil and cat grass plants.  I got a few first of the season mosquito bites and sweated like a beast.  Frowny face. Michael and I hung out a bit watching Community episodes while we ate breakfast together- frittata, veggie bacon and sausage, rye toast and hash browns.   I then set to work on painting furniture and cleaning up a bit.  I repainted the rusted/ugly spots of an enamel side table and then painted a record cabinet two coats of orange primer with the intention of painting it bright ass Home Depot orange. I think we'll put in our bedroom when it's done.

After working all day I showered and relaxed, doing some homework reading and napping for about fifteen minutes.  I then got ready in this awesome thrifted grey strapless dress.  I wore it most of the day, except when painting and gardening.  In real life I wore a men's button up shirt over top of it to play it down.  It had two holes that I sewed up with ease, making it well worth the $3!!! We then sat down for a quick dinner- MIchael had a veggie ham and cheese sandwich on rye while I had a veggie California turkey burger.    After dinner we drove out to West Chester to support our friends endeavor of building a skatepark in Downingtown, PA.  Go here for more information: DSP! We went to The Note in West Chester to see a bunch of bands and hang out with friends, all while being amazingly supportive because we're just that awesome!  The first band, Toxic Life, was actually kind of amazing and I was shocked, no offense.  We had fun, me sober since I was the driver.     I bought a shirt I plan to convert to a dress, and some raffle tickets.  I totally fucking won the $150 tattoo gift certificate to High Rollers in West Chester!!!! I'm sooooo beyond excited to soon get something in this sort of fashion:

We had a wonderful time and hung out until after 2am.  I was running on happy adrenaline dreaming of squirrel tattoos.  We came home and I eventually fell asleep after 3:30am.  Good night!!!!

day two hundred seventy-three.

Day Two Hundred Seventy-three Friday 5/28/10
Dress: Floral Long Strapless Dress
Purchased From:  Conway
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $12.99

Accessories: blue sandals
Hair and Makeup: Day old rag curls, down and pulled back, usual makeup

Oops, I'm behind again.  I have a good bit of homework too. I really love this dress.  I think I need to go back to Conway and get it in another pattern.  Its only downfall is the lack of slit, making it occasionally hard to walk.

I spent my day hurriedly working so Rica and I could go see Sex and the City 2.  We were sans our third lady, Sue, as she's recently become a Momma and didn't have enough desire to see the movie to leave her three week old for an extended period of time.  Man was she right! After fighting holiday traffic and a gaslight we finally made it to the theater for the 5 o'clock show.  Almost three hours later we emerged, embarrassed by and for the movie we just witnessed.  Several times throughout the movie Rica and I covered our faces in agony and bewilderment, and we are huge fans of the franchise.  Ugh, do not waste your money on that pile!

After wasting three hours of my life I came home and wallowed in starch- pasta with ricotta, tomato sauce, and tons of mixed veggies and some lovely garlic bread.  I ate until my stomach hurt and then watched a bunch of television- super exciting Friday night!!!!

day two hundred seventy-two.

Day Two Hundred Seventy-two Thursday 5/27/10
Dress: Red Strapless Sun Dress
Purchased From:  Conway
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $4.99

Accessories: Kurt Halsey fireflies necklace
Hair and Makeup: Fresh rag curls, usual makeup with some extra ALICE eyeshadows
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: A few boot compliments/comments, a door guy said "different look everyday"

Oh Thursday, you were swell and a little boring. Here's a Thursday Haiku:

Wake up, work and sweat
School, dialogue talk, ride home.
Eat tots with cheese sauce.

I need to go back and get more of these dresses for the ninety degree weather that is sure to come. I was going to wear sandals and a different dress and I even painted my toe nails for the occasion but it was too hot for the planned dress and when I searched for the sandals I found these boots and remembered them.  My hair is busted hot in this picture- so crazy curly.  First day of rag curls is always a little embarrassing.

day two hundred seventy-one.

If I was an amputee I guess I'd look like this.

Day Two Hundred Seventy-one Wednesday 5/26/10
Dress: Aqua Baby Doll Sun Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $3.95

Accessories: I actually didn't wear the socks pictured- just black vinyl shoes
Hair and Makeup: Two log pigtails, usual makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:

Holy hot in May! Good thing I got this dress last week at Thrift Fair.  I wore these socks for a whole fifteen minutes  but it was too damn hot to keep them on!  I spent the day working lots and sweating lots.  After work I went thrifting for a hot second at Thrift Fair and Circle Thrift and got four dresses.  Michael and I shared a flight at Kraftwork- I had a Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout (amazing!) and a Liefman's Kriek.  Nothing like 8oz. of beer to get you tipsy!  We came home and I made us frittatas and we watched some television.  It was a lovely night.

day two hundred seventy.

Day Two Hundred Seventy Tuesday 5/25/10
Dress: Red Vintage Polka Dot Dress
Purchased From:  Sazz Vintage
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $10.00

Accessories: Red and white striped cotton belt, white cotton knee socks, shiny mary jane flats
Hair and Makeup: Down and hot rollered with the bangs pinned back, usual makeup with some red lips
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  A girl in my class named MIa liked my dress and said it reminded her of Alice in Wonderland

These days are flowing together and the hours are getting away from me so quickly.  I woke up and did some homework and meandered around a bit. I got myself out of the house at a reasonable time, though I was still a little late.   I wore this dress because it's the fourth or fifth time I've put it on and I never liked it that much until yesterday.  I took advantage of the comfort and ease I felt in it and added a belt for a bit of waist definition, improving the look significantly.  Again, I'm crushing on knee socks so I rocked some white cotton socks and kept going with mary jane flats.  I was going for a vintage/doll look.  I think it went well.

This dress is the last of my last Sazz Vintage haul.  Good thing there's another one on Sunday :)

We've finally (mostly) moved into our new warehouse. So why not invite ya'll over to check it out?!

We're having a 1 day sale THIS Sunday, May 30, from 12-6pm.
The warehouse is located on the corner of (east) Boston and Coral Streets in Fishtown, at 2019 Boston St., Phila., PA 19125.

From Frankford, turn west on York. Go 3 or 4 blocks to Emerald, turn right. Go 1/2 block, turn right on Boston. We're in the middle of the block, across from the empty lot.

1000s and 1000s of pieces of vintage, all for sale at wholesale pricing.

Cash only. No large bags please. Dress lightly and be prepared to dig!

I spent my day working and then headed to class.  I've been early both classes this week because it seems with me I'm either early or late, never on time.  I'll get there someday. Class, again, was awesome.  We discussed literature and had two writing workshops.  I came home and went out for Mexican for Orsborn, Chad, Lindsay and MIchael. Stupid vegan beef gets me every time, bellyaches.  Michael and I came home and watched a smidge of television before heading to bed because it was already midnight.  Crazy.

day two hundred sixty-nine.

stepping into wellies on a rainy afternoon.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-nine Monday 5/24/10
Dress: Black Pocketed Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $3.95

Accessories: Black tights, black sneaker boots for some of the day and Hunter wellies for the rest, orange cardigan for some of the day, green cardigan for the rest, deer necklace
Hair and Makeup: Double buns and bangs pinned back with a black flower clip,  no makeup for some of the day, usual makeup for the rest
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Dress compliment from my friend Kelly

I like this dress, tagged as from Forever 21 but thrifted, and honestly I wish I'd done more with it but this morning was reserved for homework and I just didn't have it in me to put together an amazing outfit.  Midday I changed my shoes to wellies since it started raining and I came home and put on some makeup since I'm not a fan of naked face.  I also realized that my sweater was a bit gross in the pits so I changed to a fresh, clean one.

Today was pretty awesome even though I spent two hours finishing the crazy outline story that involved a moon of Saturn being made out of cheese and the main character eating half of it, not my usual style.  I finally got myself out of the house sans makeup or lunch and started working.  I got to meet four foster puppies at my friend Kelly's house.  Adorable.  I continued working, got a deli sandwich and came home devouring it and two chapters of Margaret Atwood's Negotiating with the Dead. I went to class and we learned about character outlines and development.  It was my turn for our writer's workshop and it went really well.  I got some awesome ideas and feedback and some compliments that made me super excited.  I went to Whole Foods after and then came home and blubbered away at Michael.  I am so so so happy to be back in school right now and writing something other than a blog detailing my wardrobe and life.  Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying this and it will be awesome to look back on this year long diary/journey someday but I'm excited to really write again.  I never developed it and instead of sitting around sulking about it I'm actually doing something.  It sort of rules.  I do need to figure out how to work it into my life and continue on with our bedroom move and working and time management but I'll get there.  Baby steps. And now it's time for some homework and again I am super excited about it! Nerd!!!!

day two hundred sixty-eight.

That's Maddy, I love that mouth.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-eight Sunday 5/23/10
Dress: Brown Cotton Sun Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $4.95

Accessories: Black hoodie, blue knee socks, black sneaker boots
Hair and Makeup: Two buns with bangs pinned back, usual makeup with dark green eyeshadow and mauve lipstick
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Hmmm, I think Michael said something nice but I can't remember.

This dress is nothing spectacular but I only wore it for a few hours since I cleaned in my sweaty p's and didn't put it on until 5PM.  Sunday was sent cleaning for something like five or six hours.  We finally finished and headed home so we'd have plenty of time to watch Lost and all the special shows surrounding it. Once home we realized that the recap show was two hours so I took some time to do some homework, writing a story based on an improved outline we'd created in class.  It was frustrating as hell and I only got through half of it before giving up and giving in to Lost.

I'm still processing the finale.  At first I didn't like it, then today I started liking it more and now after a conversation with my roommate I have decided again that I didn't like it and I feel that it was a total cop out.  That being said, I am still happy I watched it for six years and have every intention of re-watching it at least one more time in its entirety.  I can't say that about many television shows.  I racked my brain last night to think of the a good finale and remembered the best finale I've ever seen- Six Feet Under.

day two hundred sixty-seven.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-seven Saturday 5/22/10
Dress: Black Strapless Polka Dot Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $Accidentally Free

Accessories: Black flower hair clip, green hunter wellies, black cardigan
Hair and Makeup: Two braids with the top section in a bun and pinned back, usual makeup with teal eyeshadow
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: My Mother-in-Law liked my hair

Why was this dress accidentally free? I bought a boatload of dresses on Friday and I guess the cashier missed this one. It was marked as $7.95 so if she was going to miss a dress this was the dress to miss. Score! It's a little baggy and ill fitting and I thought twice about purchasing it, glad I thought a third time.

Saturday was spent cleaning in Cape May cleaning the beach house, readying it for Memorial Day tenants.  Around 1:30PM we stopped and cleaned up for a 30th birthday party for one of Michael's coworkers in Wildwood Crest.  I dressed and since I forgot a brush I concocted a hairstyle that didn't require brushing.  We headed to the party and as soon as we walked in I felt a little out of place, the only one in all or mostly black, a little goth even. Teehee. Oh well.  The party was also much fancier than I had expected.  It was catered and there was a bartender and someone to collect used plates.  Oh dear, here I was thinking it was going to be backyard bbq.  Everyone was quite nice and I didn't actually feel like a total scrub.  Michael and I overindulged, he on mini-eclairs and profiteroles, me on a variety of cheeses and pasta with vodka sauce.  We both paid later in the evening.  We hung out for a while and watched the Flyers game.  I was totally clueless that hockey is three twenty-minute periods and became very confused when the television went black.  I wondered why no one was upset.  So yeah, go Flyers!

We left the party and went back to the Cape May house to continue cleaning.  Michael committed to his sugar crash and took a four hour nap.  I cleaned a bathroom and ate dinner with my mom and uncle-in-law.  I paid for my gluttony sin in the middle of the night.  My mac and cheese dinner on top of my copious slices of fancy cheese proved that body does not so much like dairy anymore.  I've been cutting it out of my diet since I've been dieting and I guess my body prefers it that way.  Blarghy blargh.   I spent the rest of the evening watching the America's Next Top Model finale and cute cat videos on youtube. Wow, not only did I actually do that, I admitted to it. Yikes.

day two hundred sixty-six.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-six Friday 5/21/10
Dress: Black Strap added Strapless Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $3.95

Accessories: Black t-shirt, purple knee socks, black waist belt, black flats
Hair and Makeup: Pulled back into three low ponytails twisted into buns.  I saw this in the latest issue of Real Simple with bangs pinned back and some tendrils pulled out around the sideburn area, usual makeup with reddish lipstick
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Several- a client said I looked cute and she liked my purple socks, a few strangers and some gross dude whistled and yelled hey mommy from his car to which I replied with a heavy eye roll.

So yesterday marked the beginning of the last one hundred days.  I've gone full circle in my blog journey.  I'll be completely a full year and going back to my roots of one hundred days.  I know it will fly by.  I know I'll be happy to pare down my wardrobe and to wear certain dresses again but it will be bittersweet.  As of right now I have about seventeen or so dresses left. I intend to make some, have some made, attend clothing swaps, borrow, trade and probably still buy some dresses to complete the last one hundred days.

I like this dress even though it's too big.  It must have been for its previous owner as well because she sewed some ribbon onto it to form a strap.  Thanks whoever you are!  I still added a cute puffy sleeved t-shirt underneath since the top part was a little weird. I also wore some cute purple knee socks and added this belt since it was a little bit sack like without it.  I read the latest issue of  Real Simple  last night and learned this cute hairdo.  I dig it.  It wasn't perfect but I'll get it. I should've taken a picture of it.  Oh well.

I slept late today, probably because I stayed up super late on a coffee high.  I woke up, had some coffee, got dressed and left the house without eating.  No good.  I worked a bit and then headed to Essene for some sustenance.  I wanted sushi but they had no veggie variety.  I opted for the hot food bar but turned out it was kind of ick.  Oh well.   I finished working and then headed to the thrift store for my weekly dress binge.  It was a good haul.  I got seven dresses and a cool vintage piece of furniture for $32.  Word. I then met Michael and two of the three Steves at Kraftwork for a drink and some dinner.  I had a flat bread pizza with goat cheese, arugula and dates.  It was quite yummy but a bit expensive for what it was.  Oh well.  I also had a yummy porter but only 8oz because I hadn't eaten much.

After dinner we came home and dillydallied before heading to Cape May for the weekend, leaving the house to the Steves.  Scary, scary.

day two hundred sixty-five.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-five Thursday 5/120/10
Dress: Black Strapless Sundress
Purchased From:  Conway
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $4.99

Accessories: Green knee socks, black flats, leopard print cardigan, rat brooch
Hair and Makeup: Down and curled usual makeup w/ green eyeshadows
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Hmmm, I guess that's what I get for not updating daily.  I can't remember.

I like this dress.  I bought it in black and red and now I wish I had purchased all of the colors they had- pink, blue, green, etc.  If I go back I'll try it in a medium as I was yanking up this top all damn day.  I added my favorite little rat brooch that Michael bought me for my 30th birthday and this awesome Old Navy cardigan.  The knee socks are from the dollar store and you can bet I'll be returning to purchase them in multiple colors.  I'm crushing on knee socks a lot right now.

Thursday was a good day.  I woke up and though relaxed I was still in a bit of a funk about handing in a writing sample that evening.  As I was doing the dishes an idea came to me and I reworked a story in about an hour.  It was kind of an awesome morning.  I got dressed and spent the day working then headed to Kinko's to make twelve copies of the first draft of my story inspired by a poem and the unfinished outline.  I then went to Mugshots for a coffee and a savory muffin and finished reading two stories from Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger. I am loving this whole reading at the coffee shop thing.  It feels very 90's and makes me feel smart, or at the very least enriched.

I went to class and it was amazing.  We spent the first hour talking about "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" and then the last hour discussing the two works of fellow students.  After class I felt super alive and awesome, which may partially be to blame on the giant iced coffee I drank.   I came home and yammered on about it all to Michael.  I made us a yummy, healthy dinner of Basmati rice, tofu and cashews and spicy sauteed spinach.  We watched tv until he fell asleep and then I watched the season finale of Grey's Anatomy, which was amazing.  Yay for an awesome day.

day two hundred sixty-four.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-four Wednesday 5/19/10
Dress: Black w/ White Lace Slip
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $2.95

Accessories: Grey tights, black rain boots, blue cardigan, grey tights
Hair and Makeup: Pulled back into a low bun with parted bangs
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Someone called me chic and someone complimented my coat, not shown. I don't think these really count since no one could really see the dress or outfit.

I hated this dress once I got it home and I hated it even more once I cut it off and made it too short and uneven.  Oh well.  I left the house in some sheer black tights that were extreme quitters and by the time I walked down a long corridor to an apartment in a fancypants building they were down at my knees.  Luckily no one was around to see the ridiculousness of it all.  And double luckily I had a spare pair of tights in the car that I changed into.  Yikes.  I threw away the sheer pantyhose and will throw this dress away as well. Boo.  I wore a blue cardigan with this ugly mess and then threw on a coat to hide it all.  I guess I sort of cheated but whatever.

Wednesday was a weird day of being super late again.  This week has been traffic heavy and I have not enjoyed a second of it.  I also really need to learn how to get myself out of the house at a reasonable time.  Though this week it hasn't even mattered.

After working I came home and hung out with Michael for a hot second before he went skateboarding.  After he left I got working on my homework.  I read some J.D. Salinger, read the works of two fellow students for a workshop class and then worked on my own piece that was due to hand out to the class for a workshop on Monday.  It was terrifying.  I worked on a few different stories and two outlines but ultimately wasn't thrilled with anything.   Michael came home and I gave up for the night so we could take our very first bath in our amazing bathtub.  It was just what we needed.  Super relaxing after a long and stressful day.  I foresee a lot of amazingly relaxing baths in our futures.

day two hundred sixty-three.

what's with those alien eyeballs? oh red eye corrector, that's what.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-three Tuesday 5/18/10
Dress: Pink and White Vintage Day Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $3.95

Accessories: Black tights, hunter wellies in green, blue fabric belt, black long sleeve undershirt, pink dog house earrings and later in the day a cream colored knit hat.
Hair and Makeup: Double buns with bangs pinned back because they are working my nerves, usual makeup with some purply shadow from the Alice Urban Decay palette
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Michael liked my dress, Jody liked my earrings, a stranger commented on my boots

My morning was great despite the icky weather.  I threw on this outfit and pinned my hair into two buns and left my face blank for a bit so I could take Michael to the El and go hangout at Milkcrate Cafe for some coffee and reading. I read half of my assignment the night before and left half for the morning.  I saw my friend Jody there and we talked a bit and then got into our work. I like hanging out at coffee shops and doing homework.  I especially like hanging out at Milkcrate because it lacks any bit of pretentiousness that most coffee shops ooze.

I came home and ate and threw on some makeup and then embarked on a crazy whirlwind late-for-everything type of day.  I left the house sort of on time but mostly late and then stopped to see my friend Sue and her little almost two week old lady, Lemon.  Mistake.  When I get to talking with Sue time just slips away.  Oops! I spent the day frantically working and late for everything and stuck in traffic and without parking.  Ugh.

I managed to get all of my jobs done and get to class at 6:01.  It was really, really close though.  Class was great and most of the chest pounding tear inducing feelings from the night before faded quickly.  We spent most of the class discussing the writing process and then a mere 15 minutes discussing one paragraph of 90 pages of a reading assignment.  Aaahhh college. Now I remember why I was able to get away with never doing the readings.  Oh well, at least I actually liked this book.

I came home from class and found that Michael had bought me congrats on going back to school flowers.  What a sweetheart.  They're really beautiful.  I'm smitten.  I then whipped up some mac n' cheese, bbq seitan and cucumber carrot slaw for dinner and we ate while watching Lost.  It was fucking good- Lost I mean.

day two hundred sixty-two.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-two Monday 5/17/10
Dress: Brown and Blue Striped Sweater Tank Dress
Purchased From:  Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $4.95

Accessories: Purple argyle knee socks, green hunter wellies, grey cardigan
Hair and Makeup: Partially  half up and some down then later all down with big barrel curling iron curls, usual makeup with some mauve lipstick
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Kristin said "cute dress"

I started school tonight and our assignment was to read 90 pages of the text Negotiating With the Dead A Writer on Writing by Margaret Atwood so this is going to be short because I'm only halfway done at this point and it's 1:14AM and I don't know how much time I'll have to do it tomorrow.  I am terrified right now.  I'm terrified that I let my brain marinate in lazy for too long and that I haven't read even a quarter of the books I should have read by now and that I'm really not actually that smart, I'm just good at pretending I know what people are talking about.  I'm going to community college and I'm terrified.  That either says that I am way too snobby for my own good or way too dumb and have a lot of catching up to do.  Damn you Harry Potter, I blame you.

Oh and I have to hand in a first draft of something to be workshopped this Thursday.  So yeah, that left me scouring my hard drive for something, which led to some sadness at the realization that I haven't written much since 2003 and what I wrote then was pretty much a bunch of whiny, drivel filled shit. Fun.  So far this Margaret Atwood text is pretty awesome though, so I got that going for me, which is nice.  She's one of the many authors I always meant to read. Yup.

I bought this dress this morning.  I had an early cat job and took Michael to work so I stayed in yesterday's dress, which had turned into last night's sleepy time clothes.  I wasn't in the mood to retry the same dresses that gave me grief yesterday so I went thrifting to cheer up a bit.  It worked.  I love the colors, cut, style, etc. about this dress.  It's a Roxy dress so it was probably a little pricey in its first store.  I got it for $4.95.  Take that.  They called for rain so I went with my wellies and threw on a cardigan since this dress is a little boobyesque.  I didn't want to appear slutty for my first day of class so it was buttoned before class started.

Ok, enough procrastinating.  I'm going to try not to let this class affect my blog at all. I want to write about it in detail.  I hope I have enough time.  Being lazy is so much easier.
