day three hundred hundred sixty-three.

Day Three Hundred Sixty-three Friday  8/27/10
Dress: Green and Blue Floral Vintage Fancypants Dress
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift Clothing Swap
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $FREE!
Accessories:  Feather hair clip,  green flats, blue rose ring
Hair and Makeup: Big puff with a feather hair clip (from Art Star), teased bangs, the rest curled, tons of black eye makeup and usual makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Michael liked the outfit, Jody liked the hair clip, one of my clients asked where I was going and said I looked adorable.  I told her nowhere in particular, I just felt like being fancy.

Sometimes a girls just got to get fancified for no good reason, because it's Friday, because this dress begs to be combined with this feather hair clip, because it's the third to the last blog in the year of dresses, because I got an A in my second summer class, because, because, because. It felt silly to walk around all day like this and walk dogs.  I got a lot of weird looks but I'm used to that so I just laughed.  I spent my day working and then came home and freshened up before heading to Kraftwork for dinner and drinks with friends Spano, Jody, Sean and Marie.  Stupidly I hadn't eaten anything all day because it took way longer to get fancy than I'd expected and because the box of nutri grain cereal bars in the cabinet was an empty box.  D'oh.  So yeah, I got a little drunky on Friday.  I had a flight of okay beers (the Victory Baltic Porter was the yummiest, the rest were blah) and then a wicked yummy goblet of Russian River Consecration Wild Ale.  That one, in retrospect, is probably the one that knocked me on my ass since it's a ten percenter.  I also enjoyed a goat cheese and summer veg flatbread pizza. Delicious!
After Kraftwork we headed home to pick up Steve and then went to Kung Fu Necktie for a show.  Our friend's band, Live Not on Evil, was playing.  There I switched to Powers and ginger ale and continued on my drunken merry way.  The show was really good, but really short and so after we headed to the M Room for a few drinks for a night cap.  I think it was something like 10:30 at this point.  Steve and I decided to get specials (a pbr and shot of whiskey) and then we did more shots of Powers.  This is where the night gets hazy.  I apparently punched my friend Chad in the back of his neck, breaking my awesome rose ring and somehow I got a ton of bruises and a huge gash on my leg.  I also remember hanging out with a cat on Girard Ave, he was super sweet and let me hold him.  Once home I apparently made sandwiches, burned myself on the toaster oven, took my sandwich to bed but passed out before I could eat it and then woke up startled and put my hand in my sandwich.  Good times.  I guess maybe getting fancy wasn't the best idea after all!

day three hundred hundred sixty-one.

Day Three Hundred Sixty-one Wednesday  8/25/10
Dress:  Green Cotton Pinup inspired Dress
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2010
Price: $5
Accessories:  Brown knee socks, bird/swirl pattern boots, leopard print cardigan
Hair and Makeup: Two buns and bangs twisted and pulled back, usual makeup with green eyeshadow, yellow and clear sunglasses
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Some dude asked (from a moving van) if I needed any help "walking those dogs" when I was walking two large dogs.

This dress is actually longer than knee length, but I wanted to wear boots since the weather was so delicious so I pinned it up on both sides to change the length and shape of it a bit.  I dig the boob area of this dress quite a bit, it's flattering for the larger chested ladies.  Man alive it was awesome to wear knee highs, boots and a cardigan.  I wish it could always be seventy-something degrees.

Wednesday was a pretty good day.  I spent the morning dorking out on the computer, got ready and headed out to work.  After work I hung out with Sue and Lemon and we took a trip to Whole Foods.  My friend Kristin had mentioned she'd eaten an avocado, bacon and tomato sandwich the night before so I was craving one something fierce, veggie though, of course.  Sue and I had a nice shopping time and Lemon dug the sites and sounds of a bustling Whole Foods, cute.  I came home and made avocado, veggie turkey and bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches on 12 seed sourdough.  DELICIOUS! Michael and I watched Louie and then I watched Whip It.  Cute, but it was more of a coming of age story with some derby peppered in.

Oh and this little lady (NOT the fat one, he's mine) needs a home so if you're interested leave me a comment! I'll make a serious flyer for her very soon.  She's wicked sweet!

day three hundred hundred fifty-five.

Day Three Hundred Fifty-five Thursday 8/19/10
Dress:  Green Plaid Dress
Purchased From:  Mishel's clothing swap
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2010
Price: $Free
Accessories:  Green flats
Hair and Makeup: usual makeup with some green shadow on my eyes, hair down and brushed and curled a tiny bit with a big barrel curling iron
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Michael liked my dress

Thursday was really lovely.  I can't help but think the fact that I love this dress contributed to my good day.  This is one of my favorite scores from the clothing swap.  I have such a boner for green lately and I'll always love plaid.  To complete my dork transaction I added green shoes and green eyeshadow to my ensemble.  Yay.

I spent the day working and since class was cancelled I spent the time picking up our new foster baby:

So far her names have been Monster, Boxcar and Soda Pop. Check out the disdain in Flea's eyes.

My friend, Krista, rescued her from a wheel well on Tuesday.  Michael has agreed to let me foster her.  She's about five weeks old and needs a forever home.  Please let me know if you're interested.  She's wicked sweet, but contains no high fructose corn syrup, she's 100% pure all natural kitty goodness.  I'd really like to succeed at this whole foster thing so I can continue to do it.  Flea was a foster, and that was seven years ago...get it? Adopt her!

After work and kitty time Michael and I headed to dinner with with our friends Ramona and Matt.  We went to Honey's and sat outside since it was such a beautiful night.  After a lovely dinner we walked to the Piazza for gelato.  Nom, nom, nom.  I opted for nutella and hazelnut.  So, so, so good.  We sat at one of the tables and enjoyed the lovely evening.

On the way back to our cars we stopped and had some swingset time.  That ruled.  Once back home Michael and I played with Doctor Girlfriend Kitten.  She's so cute.  Seriously, adopt her!

day three hundred hundred thirty-one.

Ipacac loves the new bathtub.

Day Three Hundred Thirty-one Monday 7/26/10
Dress:  Black Dress with White and Green Flowers
Purchased From:  Super Thrift/Thrift Fair
Year or Era Purchased: Summer 2010
Price: $3.95
Accessories:  green flats, black belt
Hair and Makeup:  Down, usual makeup with some green shadow
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Some ladies in an elevator commented on my green shoes matching the green in my dress but they sort of said it to each other like I wasn't there "oh looks her shoes match the green in her dress" so it was the tiniest bit condescending or maybe I just assumed it since I was a poor chick in an elevator with rich ladies.

This dress is too big so I used the belt from 239 to cinch it up a bit.  I did purposefully match my green shoes to the green in the dress because I love green and I love those shoes.  I contemplated my green belt, but thought that would be too much.  Monday was a beautiful day weather wise so I made sure to enjoy it.  I worked, went to school, came home and made macaroni and cheese, smart dogs and sauteed broccoli rabe. Michael continued to work on his sail and I watched another episode of Jersey Shore.  I'm addicted.

day three hundred and six.

Day Three Hundred Six Thursday  7/1/10
Dress:  Green, Yellow,Orange Floral/Paisley Print
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift Clothing Swap
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $FREE

Accessories:  Black flats, black cotton belt, giant sunglasses, mah jong bracelet
Hair and Makeup: two little pig tails and the rest down and curled, usual makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: Someone asked if the dress was Asian inspired but now I can't remember the context or person.  A stranger said "Miss, that is a gorgeous dress."

I was absolutely running on delirium and caffeine on Thursday. I finished my final project, unhappy with the results, around 5am.  I think I went to sleep around 5:30 and then was up at 10am to follow Michael to Spare Parts to drop off his bike and then take him to work.  After I came  home and slugged a giant iced coffee I got to work on morning revisions of my story.  Still not satisfied with all of it I organized it and put it into the portfolio bag I made of an old army surplus bag.  I designed a book cover and ironed it onto some fabric, cut it out and sewed it to the front of the bag, patch style.  I was very happy with the result.  I got dressed and since the weather was goddamn glorious I wore a longer sleeved dress. This gem was scored for free at the Circle Thrift clothing swap.  Word.  I slapped on some makeup and forced myself out the door to work.  I worked all day and then headed to school for my last class of the semester, bittersweet.  It was a lovely class and after a bunch of us went to have drinks at the Kite and Key on Callowhill. I came home to find a kitchen full of boys- Steve, Steve, John and Michael.  It was a lovely, super fun evening.  I cooked leftover pasta and vegetables and Michael and I ate it while the other boys ate pizza.  Later I made hot fudge sundaes for everyone.  I finally went to bed around 1am, completely exhausted and super happy.

day two hundred ninety-one.

Day Two Hundred Ninety-one Wednesday  6/16/10
Dress: Green Vintage Dress
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $5.00

Accessories: black flats, blue cotton belt
Hair and Makeup: Double buns, usual makeup with some red lips.
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Uhhh. Yeah, I don't think any but don't quote me on that.

Oh Wednesday you were so long, too long.  The day was sightly cooler than our average temperatures as of late so  I took the opportunity to wear some polyester.  This dress is hot and too big so I  belted it a bit and sucked it up.  I spent the day working, came home and made us dinner rice, fried tofu with red curry sauce, kale chips and salads.  After dinner I went back to work on the third draft of my story.  I kept working all night, until after 4a.m. to be exact.  Ugh. I finally went to bed and realized I smelled awful so I got up and took a shower.  I think around 5a.m. I finally fell asleep but I got it done.  Stay tuned for cranky stories of Thursday in the next blog.

day two hundred eighty-five.

Day Two Hundred Eighty-five Thursday 6/10/10
Dress: GREEN AND NAVY CORDUROY CANADA GOOSE DRESS!
Purchased From:  Circle Thrift
Year or Era Purchased: Spring 2010
Price: $4.00

Accessories: Green flats, blue cardigan
Hair and Makeup: Low pigtails, usual makeup with green matte eyeshadows from MAC- velvet moss and newly minted.
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  A few dress compliments and a girl in my class, Crista, told me she has a similar dress in yellow.

So this dress is actually a skirt and I am sort of in love with its amazing pattern:

I saw a dress somewhere online (that'll learn me to save images!) maybe Urban or Anthropologie or somewhere- it was a strapless dress that looked like a pencil skirt.  I've been waiting to find a cute skirt that was big enough for me to hike over my boobs and call a dress.  I'm so happy that the one I found also happens to be corduroy and covered in Canada Geese.  Word.

Thursday was quite good.  I worked all day and then had a lovely time at class.  We have moved on to the poetry section of the class.  After class Michael and I went to Memphis Taproom to indulge in beers for beer week.  We weren't super psyched on any of their beers and both only had one.  We ordered food and poor Michael got the portobello grinder that comes with provolone.  This time it came with sharp provolone.  Combined with the hot peppers (pickled) and onions the flavor was out of control and so not him.  I gave him some of my arugula salad and amazing asparagus mac n' cheese.  So, so, so good!

day two hundred eighty-four.

Day Two Hundred Eighty-four Wednesday 6/9/10
Dress: Multicolored Fluorescent Strapless Skirt Dress
Purchased From:  Online Swap Meet
Year or Era Purchased: 2008
Price: $2 or $3 I can't remember

Accessories: Black cardigan, black tights, hunter wellies
Hair and Makeup: Double buns, usual makeup
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  Jody and her dog Eno liked my dress :)

So yeah, this is actually a skirt but if you hike it up, voila!, it becomes a dress.  It's not the best dress since the elastic isn't super strong so good thing it was cold and rainy and I wore a coat overtop of this outfit because all damn day this "dress" fell down and exposed my bra over and over again.  The coat covered it and no one was privy to the ladies so it was fine, just pretty uncomfortable.  Yay.  I got this dress via an online Swap Meet on Suicide Girls.  I'm no longer a member but it was a great way to buy and sell goods, mostly clothing and makeup.  It's sort of like ebay or craigslist but all within an online community and without auctions. It's one of the things I miss about being a member of SG. I suppose I could track down some other online communities that may be free.  Mayhaps I'll look into that.

It was a gross, rainy day and despite my fabulous umbrella I got soaked a few times.  I attempted to stay dry but it's near impossible to carry an umbrella and walk two dogs at once.  After work I took a quick trip to the thrift store, Circle Thrift, then to the grocery store and then home.  We went to our friend's house to pick up a couch and love seat they were getting rid of but after measuring our front door and their front door we realized it would not fit.  Blargh.  We could have attempted an alley/back door entrance but I feared it wouldn't fit through the kitchen/living room entryways and that would've been a whole lot of ass pains for nothing.  So we're stuck with our gross, chewed up, sheet covered couch until we redo the living room and buy new furniture.  I want a Macy's couch! Like one of these:

A girl can dream I guess.  After giving up on our temporary couch dreams we came home and I made us vegan beef stew- tons of vegetables (carrots, red potatoes, celery, green beans, and onions), seitan, mushroom broth and a few herbs simmered together until the veggies were tender.  I served it with buttered noodles and crusty buttered bread.  The noodles were the only non-vegan item in the mix.  Nom, nom, nom.   We stuffed our faces and snuggled on our dilapidated couch.  the end.

Price: $4.95

Accessories: blue knee highs, black on black chuck taylors, deer necklace
Hair and Makeup:
Comments/Compliments/Complaints:  A girl at CVS complimented my dress

Can you see my sweat? GROSS! And that was with the air conditioner on mind you!

Michael went to Cape May to see his Mama very, very early on Sunday.  How he got up after four point five hours of sleep I have no idea.  And then to top it all off he rode a motorcycle.  I, on the other hand, slept until after ten, maybe even eleven.  Take that!

I woke up ready to work.  I made a giant pot of coffee and did some dishes before forcing myself to continue revising my second draft.  After a few hours I decided to procrastinate via cleaning/moving my vanity and makeup to our new bedroom.  It's pictured above.  I need to hang my mirror and hang that bird hook on the wall.    I worked a bunch more and then decided to give myself a much needed reward of some thrift shopping.  HORROR struck me when I drove up to my all time favorite thrift store, Thrift Fair.  They are closed.  I didn't read the sign closely but it may have said renovations, I'm not sure.  I need to go back and read it properly.   I shed a tear and headed to CVS for some retail therapy but it wasn't the same.  This dress is from Thrift Fair and it was perfect for the super hot day.  I was hoping to find more like this one for upcoming horribly hot days.  Oh bother.

I spent another several hours revising and then Michael came home and I made us a scrumptious dinner of veggie chicken in white wine garlic sauce, mashed potatoes with sour cream and kale chips. Kale chips rule!!!! KALE CHIPS YO!

I think I worked a bit more before giving up and going to bed a giant stressball, worried about my story.  Blargh.
