Today was another lazy day, lovely.  Last night we ate a cheese plate for dinner and drank wine and beers on the balcony.  After that we played Cinq-o, a dice game, and I won.  Nice. I also started tearing through the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, I am going to make short work of those books.

We awoke late today again and had coffee on our balcony, the view really doesn't get old.  We lounged about all day and I made us a gouda, boursin and veggie egg scramble with a baguette and some yogurt.  Michael read H.M.S. Surprise, one of the books in the Aubrey/Maturin Novels, while I continued reading Dead Until Dark while sunbathing on the balcony.  Bliss.  I finally put a dress on around 3pm, after a shower and hair washing.  Good thing there was a hair dryer here since mine is a. at home and b. the same brand as the melted curling iron from yesterday so it would've done some damage no doubt.

Today's dress is pretty out of the ordinary for me since it's purple, my least favorite of all the colors.  I really like the fit and flow of it though and I think purple might be growing on me a little. Shh! Don't tell it I said so. I didn't feel like doing much with my hair so I pulled it back into a low bun and attached a fresh lily into the hair band.  I got a huge bouquet of lilies for $4.80 at a flower market.  They are making our apartment smell absolutely divine.  I wanted to keep the outfit light and girly so I wore my sandals, even though I am in dire need of a pedicure. I brought nail polish but my two remover pads didn't work so well and I was only able to remove my fingernail polish.  Oh well.  Michael took my picture in a cool old stairwell that provides access to our street, or rather hill.  Unfortunately the key we have does not work for its gate and we are forced to walk up and down another large hill to get to our apartment.  Our calves are hurty. At least I'm getting a little workout since I am eating an obscene amount of cheese.

We finally left the house today to go to the grocery store for much needed wine, beer, water, and food.  Eating in is saving us a ton of money and allowing us to relax and enjoy our apartment.  We do plan to swim tomorrow and visit La Zucca Magica for another amazing meal before we leave.  Tonight after what has been our daily McDonalds visit we are in search of either gelato or creme brulee, two things we decided we must experience here before leaving.  Today I bought some famous Nice olives so I can scratch that off our list too.  Apparently Nice is famous for their olives and olive oil so I'll have to obtain some for take home.

Hair and Makeup: Eyes are all cleared up so lots of eye makeup, curled hair. I melted an old curling iron today.  Oops!
Comments/Compliments/Complaints: I have only seen Michael today he said "ooooh" I also got beeped at by a motorcycle person.

Last night we had an amazing dinner at La Zucca Magica.  The menus is fixed and changes daily depending on what is fresh that day.  It's also 100% vegetarian, and so good!

We were served:
1. Potato and onion soup with parmesan
2. Poached? artichoke with an Italian inspired Spanikopita (made with mozzarella, a spinach pesto, and more of a pie crust shell)
3. Pumpkin Parmesan (like an unbreaded eggplant parm with pumpkin instead of eggplant)
4. Lasagna made with homemade noodles, pieces of pumpkin, and French olives
5. Cinnamon flecked vanilla ice cream served with an apple/raisin pie slice
We also shared both a bottle of red wine and mineral water.  My god the amount of cheese and butter that entered our systems is amazing.  It was a lovely, romantic meal that left us dead for the night, watching an episode of Law & Order in French in our awesome apartment.  Our view is absolutely amazing.

Today was our super lazy day since it was the first day we didn't have a check-out time. We slept until noon and lazed about for hours.  I made us a brunch of omelettes with manchego, comte and gouda cheeses, mushrooms for me, onions and peppers for Michael.  We had toasted baguettes and a side of home fries.  We ate on our balcony and seriously just did nothing all day, fantastic.  We're now on our internet access mission, which required an insane walk because we tried to go to the grocery store first and it is way up a hill.  It was closed.  Oh well, we found the equivalent to a Philly bodega and got take out beers and water.  Michael got the Desperados, a weird tequila beer.  We think it will be gross but he wanted to try it.  Now we're going to do some searching for our Friday and Saturday destination.  I think we're going to try to stay in Monaco for our last two nights and drive into Italy for one meal so we can say we ate pasta in Italy.

Today's "dress" is really a slip and I had intended to wear it under a burgundy lace dress that I brought but I figured I'd be lounging for most of the day so I'd go with comfort, yup I find slips super comfy.  When we headed out I threw on a cardigan to play it down a bit.  I didn't do it on purpose but I didn't put any jewelry on today, again maybe for comfort reasons.  I curled my hair a lot today and finally wore it down.  We are having a really lovely time and are really loving Le Panaromic, our amazing apartment building.

Random Nice, France fact: The most popular dog is the Jack Russel Terrier, I've seen at least twenty of them, very few other breeds.  You can also take your dogs everywhere, including grocery stores. Crazy. I have not seen a cat yet, probably a good thing because that would mean it was a stray.  Also no squirrels, I don't think they're huge fans of palm trees.

complimented one of my tattoos.
I was having a "skinny" feeling day so I wore today's dress since it's
a little clingy. I threw on a belt to distract from any protruding
belly action that might take place throughout the day. I paired it
with my bright green flats to give it some oomph. Later tonight I'll
throw on my short-sleeved black jacket to dress it up for dinner.
Including the jacket and shoes today's outfit cost $27. Score!!!
Last night we had dinner at a little alley pizza shop, and drinks at a
place called distilleries ideales of French beers, caipirinhas and
more beers. My drink had a glow stick in it. Weird.
Today we ate crepes, and walked a lot, checked into our apartment
(yay!) and I grocery shopped, which was intersting. We also made a
reservation for tonight at the magic pumpkin, a vegetarian
restaurant. 4-5 courses, chef's choice, changes daily. I can't wait!
Today's picture features Michael since we had access to a large
mirror in our apartment I was able to photograph the both of us
instead of him taking my picture as I'm limited to iPhone photos.
That's why the pics haven't been consistent. Our only source of
Internet access has been McDonald's. I will try to update daily all
week but if for some reason we don't leave our apartment I'll have to
double up some days. Nice is pretty nice :). Har har

free wi-fi. At least they're good for something! We are back in Nice
and now just to find a hotel and restaurant for the night. Here is a

Please pardon the different tenses, I've been writing as we go and
without wi-fi. Please also pardon grammar and spacing errors. It is
quite hard to type so much with an iPhone.

On our first night Michael and I slept from 7 to midnight. Not smart.
We woke up confused and decided to head out for a bit so we could get
back to sleep eventually. Michael said, "I feel like we should eat
some cat food and huff some glue to be able to sleep here tonight." We
got beers and whiskey instead at an Irish pub. That was after
attempting to enter another bar when we heard okay music poring out of
it. We were waved away and told it wad a gay bar. So? That was
weird. We got back to our room and stupidly drank the whole bottle of
wine we had purchased. Fortunately I also mixed up an emergen-c for us
to share before passing out. We got yelled at for our music being too
loud, please note our music was just playing out of an iPhone not
plugged into anything. Paper thin walls!

I woke up this morning feeling pretty crappy. So did Michael. I got us
coffees and croissants and ordered in terrible French but it all
worked out. We lost our parking lot ticket, which set us back some
time but we eventually made it onto a8 to a7 headed for Lyon.

12 hours later we are still in the car. Today was the ultimate fail.
No vacancies and fuve hours of wrong turns, we haven't had a meal. I
hate this day the most of all. We finally got the last room in an
overpriced hotel at 1am :( I'm going to eat an avocado, shower and cry
myself to sleep.

We woke up refreshed and only slghtly downtrodden. Michael paced and I
put on a lot of makeup. We had the hotel breakfast: coffee,
croissants, yogurt, mini crepes and juice. We decided that five hours
of surreal lost driving is something we'll look back upon and laugh at
when we revisit Lyon on a later date. We saw some beautiful things
from the car, beautiful things that will someday be spectacular on
foot with a week to spare.

Today we went to see Le Palais ideal. It was one of the most amazing
things we've ever experienced. Thank you Sean Graham for insisting we
see it. It was an inspirational and amazing sight that quashed the
terrible experience of yesterday. I also got to see some
white donkeys, nice. Tonight we are faced with finding another hotel
but tomorrow we check into our apartment for six nights. I look
forward to having a kitchen and not having the rushed feeling that
comes with check-out times.

Today's dress is one of my new Sazz Vintage dresses. I wore it with a
white cardigan and my crazy blue and white pattern boots. I am really
happy with today's outfit and events. Vive la France!
